Anyway, if she decide to make Harry Potter, the MMORPG, I can already feel the possible onslaught...and the human swarming.  In 1 day of selling she make enought money to buy SoE...she is richer then the Queen now.

Looks like the new book is getting horrible reviews, even the best one says "It's setting up for the final one".

Dude i made a harry potter vr the devil thing....

Once upon a time there was a freakin' wizard named Harry Potter. He killed all the other wizards with his overpowered magic spells and they died. Some idiote named jar jar binks (who has been banished for making george lucas looking like an idiote) had his brain fried by Potter. Potter killed people and was arrested and lived happily ever after in a mental asylum...THE END

Now wasnt that a nice story?? Well the point of it is to tell you that the days of harry potter (and trillionaire jk rolings or however you spell it) are OVER.

PS than harry potter got to share mental cells with the devil.

The only thing about Harry Potter was that gucomics strip where Hagrid tells him he's a Wizard and Harry gets all worked about it because he won't be able to find exp groups. That and maybe the first book, maybe.

Seriously tho, Harry Potter is an overhyped, overrated, low quality book. It's unoriginal, repetative, and freaking pricy (fine, it's hardcover, but 50$? are you nuts?). The series should have died after the second book, that way it might have left some good taste, but if you decide to keep writing another 5 books after you already run out of ideas and your creative impulse is replaced by the need to buy a pink Humvee to park next to the mocha colored one, well, atleast spend a month learning how to build a novel.

With that said, I'll probably get around to reading it when I'm done with my current to-read list, if only to laugh at how crappy it is.

I liked the books... as for the movies, the first was the best and the last one was absolutely awful... I'm waiting for my wife to finish HP&THBP so I can read it.. I think the majority of the people who say "It's for kids" blah blah, never even read a single page of the book. If they actually took time to sit down and read book one, they would realize it's a book for all ages.

We say it's for the kids because we can use comon sense to tell that when ever thing has a cutesie pootsie name and when the book doesn't really deal with any serious Issues that Adults deal with....

That doesn't mean that Adults shouldn't read it...
What Most of us mean when we say that it is a kids book we mean that Adults have nothing to gain by reading Harry Potter Because the Issues dealt with have already been done and adults have seen the same plots time and time and time again....

Children can gain from reading Harry Potter because it gives them exposure to literature... But adults should stay away because Harry Potter is just keeping you back...

Let me give you an analogy with an RPG....lets say Final Fantasy.... If you are on level 50+ sure you can go fight rats or bats or small dogs or something easy.... But killing them won't give you any XP... while If you Take on Dragons or Malboras or Ultimate Weapon.... THen you will gain a whole lot of XP...
But that doesn't mean you can't kill a rat or two....

    Get it?

Let me tell you. Money can corrupt an Author to make books just for the money when your at that level of popularity....but hey...it's true

  • I've read none of the books, seen 2 of the movies, and I'm left with this conclusion: let the kids who are actually driven to read the books do so, they're getting valuable exposure to the world of literature. As for the adults who read them, go ahead. If that's what you wish to read, far be it for me or anyone else to judge your reading selection. Unfortunately, I'm reduced to reading Organic Chemistry for my BSN. As for the spelling on here, whatever. I'm not sure what grammatical correctness can be imparted on the poor souls who still haven't grasped the concept. Lastly, the satanistic bulls**t has to go. These books do not lead to satanism, free will does that all by itself.

I remember reading the first 2 books back in middle school before the Harry Potter craze. I read the 3rd when it came out, I bought the 4th but I just couldnt get into it. I think I've just grown out of Harry Potter which is really sad because I did enjoy it ALOT. I've heard this new book is alot more "mature", maybe the authors trying to get people like me interested in it again ::::31::.

I can guarantee... it's definitely not like the first 3 stories; the focus isn't on hijinks, rule breaking and wonderous adventures anymore. And Harry has stopped his whining act too... I don't want to spoil anything, but this book felt a lot different from the first 4. There's still quidditch and classes, but they're now all in the background of a deeper and more serious story.

  • gargantroogargantroo Member Posts: 1,477

Yeah, supposedly it's getting more serious.

And by the way, anyone who thinks Harry Potter is for kids...
Your right. It is for kids. But so is Star Wars. Even George Lucas says it's for kids.
