I still think the best idea that. . well never worked.. . was having animals and monsters have some type of very simple AI (like UO in beta) where they have hunger etc. and no set path. This only works in Sandbox games for the most part. Even having said that the best events in WoW were when someone kited a huge mob to a town. Unpredictability. . at least a little goes a long way for me. It is the reason I like open world PvP even though I don't consider myself a hard core PvPer.

How would an idea "well never worked" ... be the "best"? Isn't ideas that have worked superior?
In fact, given how well MOBA has worked, i would say that is a better idea than yours.

I can agree with that. A large part of the reason that this idea never worked was the technological limitations of the time.
People asking "How would an idea that 'well never worked'... be the 'best'?"
Phones were attempted before Alexander Graham Bell. They just never worked before then. Planes were attempted before the Wright Brothers. They just never worked before then.
Not having ever worked does not mean that something cannot work, and cannot in-fact be great. Roaming monsters have been attempted before. They were attempted by a game that pioneered MMOs in a time where technological limitations were much greater and player behavior in MMOs was an unknown and poorly understood factor.
Technology has improved. Understanding of player behavior has improved. It is now possible to create roaming monsters based on better technology, and shape it in a way that conforms to existing knowledge of player behavior.
The prototype was not a success because it was discovered that the players slaughter everything and that has radical impacts on an ecosystem that is attempting realism. That doesn't mean the next version couldn't be if it was altered to account for player behavior and based on 2017 technology.
Hmm, boob size could be part of the settings in chargen?
Where have you been the last 10 years?
Err, are you saying that games have boob size settings? Somehow I missed that, if so? Nothing I've played had anything like that.
I think BDO and Aion have that level of customization though I've never played them and can't say for sure.
I know for sure that you could play with the character's body size in LOTRO and SWTOR. At least IMO the sexiest model for females SWTOR was the heaviest and LOTRO humans were sexiest somewhere in the mid to heavier range of the scale because for some reason while male characters get fat, female characters just get curvier.
when it comes to specially what MMO can bring to the game structure (many ideas here are intresting but to be fair related to both single player, multiplayer and MMOs (for the most part).
.....
I like what Elite Dangerous is trying to do. I dont think its perfect its somewhat of a new approach and they are fumbling but the idea is wonderful.
The Devs create a narrative that is a response to community actions. Thus when you pay that monthly fee you are paying for the developers to be actively in a 'conversation' with the players. developer injects a plot twist, players repond in different ways, developer then responds based on those outcomes. thus neither really fully knows how the story will unfold
that is what i would do
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
nah too much work, too little fun. Playing good games sure .. making good games .. why should i bother?
In fact, it would be a high fun to work ratio if i make a text adv that allows 5 people to log in at one time, call it a MMO, and see the flames here. Sure it is beating a dead horse. But that must be fun, right? Otherwise, why do people still beat the "is MOBA a MMO" dead horse here after YEARS and YEARS of crusade?
Ah, that is simple: They play a game called "Troll: the provoking" and inane statements like that gives a lot of points.
But the reason making a good game is worth the effort is because good games tend to earn far more cash then cashgrabs. Ok, you could earn a rather large sum initially by getting a famous IP and make the pre-order sound good. You might start it out with P2P and sell "lifetime" subs to people who never tried the game and then you could either refuse refunds or focus on people too timid to complain that your game is unplayable...
Still, a good game will earn far more cash and will be more rewarding. If you want to scam people there are easier and more profitable things to do then lousy games. Try sue a fastfood resturant for too hot coffee or something, that requires close to zero work.

Really? AoC for instance had it without any kind of hiding but other games like GW2 hide it just a little and let you pick "body type" and they usually have a bunch identical to others but with huge boobs.
It is far from complete but the game I think is oddest on it is STO, Why would you need that in a Star trek game? I mean BDO is no surprise but ST actually promoted equality and tolerance, it had the first mixed couple kiss on TV and so on so it feels wrong there.
Well currently mine is in a state of chaos and completely stopped.
Last December I ripped out the core system and installed a new database from Amazon since it uses no SQL. I didn't like the text to lip as it was so I made it text to speech. Now one can type in and send messages and the avatar speaks as well as lip sync. Some here have seen the videos of my game so there is proof of concept. I did however remove all videos of the development since it probably won't interest many since it is more tit and ass than acceptable.
I like the build anywhere feature but it needs a better interface since it is rather crude. I never got around to fixing it up since I haven't worked on it since February. I did finish the harvesting/crafting but never got the items I paid for so it sits in white box.
Hell, I don't even know where my server is anyway since I put it away and decided to make a couple mods instead since I refused to go KS and micro transactions.
