I'm looking for a game to have the balls to go with a $25 or even $49 sub. No cash shop cheese.  No sanctioned RMT.  Just a straight sub at a fair price.
Probably could be done if a game could deliver a really outstanding experience above all others.

Alot are cancelling as there just not new and innovative enough. What i would personally like to see is the building as a clan being apart of the game world, so you build up you dwellings to villages to towns to cities. With only about 3 or 4 NPC cities. Crafting done by resources found or broken down from items and put on the market by player guilds. Mining done inside mines etc. A choice in crafts (Farming-(gather and plant herbs and seeds), Mining, Forestry, Butchering (gather hides, lethers and meat) then the usuall Blacksmithing, Leatherworking, Weaponsmithing, Tailoring, Cooking etc) but you can only have 1 of these you either gather a certain resource or make items) guilds start with a max of 10 players and this goes up on each guild level and certain quests/targets that get done and can go up to a max limit of players. Alliances can be made with other guilds, the whole economy to be player run, mass attacks by NPC armies that can happen anytime, anywhere, anyplace which would take teamwork to defeat (this can happen at the NPC cities too).

But so far most of that is only brought and available by these survival sort of games, but there mostly the same thing build destroy build destroy, with no other goal to aim for no quests no nothing, if they can mix both of these together with proper battle formations and combat tactics and a monthly sub, i for 1 would go for it if the game was good enough. right now its all dead and same old same old.

$25-49 isnt a fair price....You'd be paying $300-600 a year just to play a video game....Most of us cant even justify paying $180 a year just to have access to a video game.....
I would easily pay that if I didn't have to deal with F2P, P2W players and cash shops or the game constantly pushing trying to get me to buy sheit.  Can you imagine playing a MMORPG where you can just play it and not have to deal with all the distractions?

People would pay anything.  When I was playing f2p games I notice many of my guildmate are paying 500$ a month.  So not a surprise some would pay 25+ a month.

But the reality is 25$ a month don't necessary mean the game is good.  In fact most company already made up the mind instead of charging a fixed fee, it's easier to make into f2p games where people can be charged with however amount they willing to part.

It wouldn't even be just the game that would need to be great to justify that cost, the service would have to be mind blowingly awesome. 24/7 live events, dev ran RP, dev ran bosses, etc... There is no way i'd pay that much monthly for a lesser experience than that.

People are paying 15 bucks a month to play 15 to 20 year old games right now.. a new game doesn't have to be mind blowing.. I'd pay 40 bucks a month just to play the same type of game made 20 years ago with new graphics/sound etc.

So true. I have come to terms with my generic taste in MMOs. What's more important to me is freedom in terms of progression and a well-polished, social game. Games are always either Raid for BIS gear, Grind for BIS, or Pay $ for BIS.

I guess the closest I could come to a perfect game is Archeage with no cash shop, limited RNG, no dungeons or events (to keep people on the oceans and running packs for more pvp action), instanced housing neighborhoods, and skill/gear ratio with a bit less emphasis on gear as it is now.

Most are not. F2P is like 80% of the market.

And most gamers have moved on from the old traditional style of MMOs.

Same with EVE, a huge portion of players don't even go to nullsec and stay in high sec.

Since when? I stopped playing a few months back (not by choice, stupid life) and I could not even get in a decent Corp unless I was willing to hang in Nullsec (which I was, and is where I spent the majority of my time) and that is where I saw most people heading. OR low sec anyway, it just is not profitable to be in high sec. You are going to get ganked regardless, you may as well make some money before you do.

Like I said I quit playing before F2P went live so things easily could have changed.

Not a fair price?  Don't play it if that's how you feel.

When I play an MMORPG I play at LEAST 20 hours a week.  That's over 1000 hours a year.   Yeah if I am enjoying a game enough to play it for a year I think I can spring for 30 or 60 cents an hour (and that's on the high end... I'm sure many would play a lot more than 20 hours a week).

We already have more F2P games that I can count.   Go enjoy those all you want.

I'm waiting for a game to have the balls to charge a real sub fee and ditch the cash shop/RMT cheese.

    I know, right. $600 a year...it's fucking pocket change.

Some of these people will spend a shit ton of money on a computer with power they don't even need just so they can e-peen their specs in a forum signature and then complain about a $50 expansion.

There was a thread a couple of months ago about drinking alcohol while playing and people were puffing up their chests boasting about the expensive scotch they drink....but OMFG!!!! An expansion is too expensive.

I'd pay a $50 a month sub just to play a game without all the entitlement babies running around whining all the time.

You are correct about people being willing to spend the premium kind of money on a hobby, this year I will probably spend $600 on my hobby and the price money will probably only cover 20% of that cost.

The problem is that until there is a game that can create a unique experience or something with a much higher quality I'm not paying a premium. Why would I pay $25 per month to grind the same sort of content over and over when that money gives me 20-25 different games to play each year.

The spread in feature set in a game like Rust compared to a game like EQ2 is dramatically huge.

If the AAA money would follow the lead of games like Rust, 7DTD and the like then such a game could be created for sure

The thing is the more subscription cost the less player would be.  So in the end the game company won't necessary make more money.

There's a reason why almost all the game on the market are f2p.  So people that are willing to pay the high money can do so.

Many people are already paying that in f2p games.  So why charge 25-50 when they can charge people more in f2p games.

Because.. as I (and others above) have stated a few times...  I think there is a market of people that will pay $25 or even $49 a month for a premium game without the F2P/cash shop/pay for advantage stuff.  I'd happily pay $49 a month for a premium game but you know how much I have spent on cash shop/F2P games?   ZERO.  Not a cent.  Do i think I'm in the majority? No, but I do believe there are more of us than you may think.  So a developer can aim to be number 1298 F2P game, or aim to stand out from the competition by delivering something different.

Again though, it's not just paying a sub that magically makes the game better.  I want a premium product to match that.  Maybe much more active GMs, some live events... something that makes it a premium product.

$25-49 isnt a fair price....You'd be paying $300-600 a year just to play a video game....Most of us cant even justify paying $180 a year just to have access to a video game.....

You should go into comedy with them jokes.
