Happy 5th (silent, and most likely last) birthday, TSW

Yep, I know that the category is now renamed to Legends...
and yep, I know it was 3 days ago (sent a memo about it to Suzie as well), just wanted to wait a bit, in case FC find their balls somewhere in a drawer at the PR dept.
Seems that's not gonna happen, if it didn't yet - 3 days is enough time even for a respawn for some...

So, yeah, TSW was 5 years old 3 days ago. Don't be surprised you haven't heard about it, Funcom actively ignored and over-silenced it. Haven't simply forgot, they were reminded quite a few times over the days, which they ignored.

Was not due to the maintenance mode either, since this is how they've treated AO's birthday a couple weeks ago https://www.anarchy-online.com/news/16th-anniversary-sweet-sixteen  (subscription offers and an event), and this was AoC's birthday two months ago http://www.ageofconan.com/news/AoC9Years  (free character slot, boost to the levelcap, and an event, which was even extended for a week).

TSW? Nothing. And I don't mean simply no in-game events or golem chase or the yearly t-shirt... but no announcement, no forum post, not even a tweet....

Don't get me wrong, I know they can't wait to finally kill off the game, and this move aligns perfectly well to the client breaking and erasing TSW's presence from everywhere. But even if actions speak louder than words, words are still official - and according to their own word, they will keep TSW open. At least till August.

So, it's just an another precedent made by Funcom. I don't remember any other studio which is not forgetting, but actively ignoring one of its active (and till the start of 2017 actually their "flagship") game's birthday.
Well, there's always something new to learn with Funcom, I guess...

LOL well I remember Anarcy Online, really old game never really played it, although I know Age OF Conan, could have been a great game, and I got a collectors edition sitting in my closet, Age OF Conan needs a re-work similar to The Secret World, if the game-play felt just like TSW, and had better character customization and a bigger server without keeping players apart so much maybe more people would be playing it.

I know I won't touch Conan Exiles though because of Denuvo.

AoC has now only two servers, and the pvp one is fairly empty so there's not much keeping apart among the players... but yeah, it could use some more love. Not gonna happen, since they're now all about Exiles.
(and yeah, Denuvo sucks big time)

Funcom is literally trying to stay alive. I don't blame them that they are doing what they can to keep their employees employed and the lights on.

So yeah, they are all about Exiles. Sucks for people who liked/loved the other games but such is game development.

Reminds of me Hi-Rez and Global Agenda. Hi-Rez was honestly holding on by a thread thanks to Tribes then released Smite and did well again plus Paladins so doing even better. Poor Global Agenda though. Hopefully they turn their little joke about making GA2 into a reality at some point since GA had alot of potential.

In all likelihood, giving TSW a makeover was cheaper than developing a whole new game from the ground up. Plus for years people have been telling them they loved the game's story and atmosphere, but hated the combat. It definitely looks like it paid off for them so far too. The game is busy as hell, with dungeon queues being instant pretty much around the clock.

My SWTOR referral link for those wanting to give the game a try. (Newbies get a welcome package while returning players get a few account upgrades to help with their preferred status.)
