I don't think I said I made a game. I do have a skryim mod nearing completion, been working on it over 2 years. It's reasonably large.
Any chance you can give us a hint what your mod is all about?
It's a large tomb. It's actually just a sort of present for a friend of mine; the only video games that he plays are the elder scrolls games. So I decided to make "the ultimate tomb" as a birthday present... only to have it take 2+ years.

A man has been visited by the ghost of one of his ancestors who was buried in the tomb at the time of its sealing. Buried there is Godfred the Black (Gottfried) who amassed an army but was defeated, his army and followers sealed in the tomb forever, some dead and some alive, and all records destroyed so his name be removed from memry. The spirit senses that something is happening after all these years so this man contacts you (whether you are Dragonborn or not) because you are widely known for your heroic deeds to investigate.

Each of Godfreds 3 Dragon Priest advisors expanded their tombs so that they could, in essence live on in their own twisted realms. You must collect their Dragon Claws and unlock Godfreds crypt to uncover the evil within.

it's pretty straightforward on the surface but there are many secrets/secret areas where you have to pay attention in order to reveal them.

Seriously though, it sounds like you have created an awesome mod.  I will keep an eye out for it.

You know, I should probably add for our OP that I've been working on my Mod, in my own time, for over 2+ years and all the assets are not from scratch. They are obviously all premade by Bethesda (and one or two from other modders who offered their bits to be used as assets). Other than the recorded voice/effects that I will add, all of it just had to be "put together".

So imagine making your own mmo/game where not only are you putting everything together, you are creating everything in the game as well.

Yes that is the plan! I'll let you know when it is uploaded. I "think" another month or two. It will first be uploaded to the skyrim NExus site and then I'll figure out how to do it for the special edition.

On another note, does the actual quality of your Kickstarter product matter? I am under the impression that you can Kickstart any load of crap, as long as your marketing is on point.

From what I've heard, it all comes down to priming the market and getting exposure at the right time. People can't usually see your product anyway - rarely is there a link to an actual testable build. The people only see what you show them. You could "fake" a trailer, as many projects do, and sell your project based on the promise.

I think the Kickstarters that fail are the ones who underestimate the marketing aspect.

Your comment here is an example of a hostile response.  You aren't required to become enraged and froth at the mouth for it to be considered hostile -- this is evidence enough.

Comments re: "sex out of boredom" are inappropriate and influence how people perceive you.  You also changed another of your inappropriate comments (re: porn) on the first page of this thread to "wot" after my criticism, thus acknowledging, at least in part, that you realize the way you type/present yourself online is harmful to your dream.  My recommendation is to embrace the criticism more fully and temper your conduct and rhetoric.

Also, as Forgrimm suggested with his gif, one of your comments seems out of place:

"I feel like I have put in the legwork doing what i've done which is mostly creating a game that is fun, balanced, etc in my head that no one except people on the left would uninstall"

This is not only inappropriate and unprofessional but also is a likely deterrent to valuable talent that otherwise may have aided you.

Overall, this can be a great learning experience, in more ways than merely game development.  Again, I wish you good luck, truly.  We are desperate for good games and it would please us greatly if you, the ostensible underdog, could pull off your dream.
just because someone felt threatened doesn't mean I was trying to threaten them. no one can read minds either to determine if I was truly being hostile. there's no evidence.

I removed that post for a different reason than you think. the evidence for that is the fact I didn't remove every comment that could be considered 'inappropriate'

maybe it is not such a bad thing to weed out talent I would not have gotten along with for the project.

agreed.. i think lol and if I come off as hostile it's just my ocd compelling me to clarify what's been misunderstood. and thanks for the good luck, ur right and i hope I pull it off too.

First of all you are not going to get one programmer and make a game.

Did you do as I suggested, find a local college/art school so that you could speak to someone studying animation?
i'm on the look out for sure and have even been encouraging people I know who don't know what they want to do to maybe look into some of these things if they find it interesting so if I don't find anyone now, the seeds are planted
It's really easy. Call your local art schools/colleges and see if they have something akin to a "gig line". Probably a career center. Make certain they have some sort of program that has animation.

Heck, to prove my point I just looked at the MFA art school (museum of fine arts) and yup, there is a career center. You can post jobs as an employer. However, no animation. No worries, a further search found Boston University School for the arts has an animation degree as does Leslie. So ... If it was "me" I'd call up and find out if they have career centers.

Like I said, you might have to pony up a little money and maybe it's just to animate one or two things. Or maybe you can make some sort of deal with one of the students.

Being on the look out doesn't get things done. Actually "doing" gets things done. You are either a doer or not.

If it's all overwhelming then make a list. make a list of milestones and then a sub-list of what you need to do to accomplish those milestones. Then just follow the numbers.

Don't go to college for this. Hiring from one is fine.
