I've always felt Xyson (or WURM) was the great grandfather to all of the half finished survival games out there and one of very first pioneers of the "early access" model.

Heck, it's called Prelude because it was an EA version of the full vision,  and true to many of them its yet to fully release, what, like over 7 years now?

I see they have a "3rd" version planned, Xyson: Apocalypse, I seemed to have missed the 2nd one somewhere along the line.

Haven't played it since 2010, no idea how it progressed,  but it always was a very small team working on it (if not a one person show) so ARK certainly has more resources which I assume translates to far better graphics and gameplay.

I recall having to drink incessantly,  and the mechanic was very tedious, running back to a lake or river and making a waterskin was either not available or not obvious.

I also recall the many penis shaped structures, normal any time players are able to impact the world.

Another fun thing, players would dig holes at spawn points you couldn't crawl out of so if you dropped in one you either were killed by the gankers or left to rot,  no /stuck so you had to petition a mod and hope he was around to get you out.

Again, all of this was in 2010, I would hope this has all been addressed by now.

I wish this game succeeded more than ark to be honest. It had a much larger scope with a better setting imo.
