I recently started playing Boundless, which I bought a few years back.
Back then it had no content at all, where as today it has quite a lot, and ive spent way too much time in that game over the last few weeks than I’d care to admit, lol.
Yeah Civ. Blink of an eye then another 2000hr gone.

The civ series and the Fallout series have all been played for thousands of hrs.
I am a scizo misanthrope. So one day I may go BANZAI on your post. Have not yet though. Maybe there is hope? Nah there is really none for me or the human race.
Not much since Skyrim, which is kinda sad. There's just no really great games out there any more. There's some good games but none that are really great that I can lose track of time in.
Ark, I just really enjoy building and taming in the game. I log on with the intent to finish up a section of a base or gather some resources and the next thing I know it's 4am and I've laid 200 more foundations or tamed a small herd of something.

Age of wonders and Heroes of might and magic games are as bad. One would think it should be easier to keep track of time when playing something turned based but for some reason is it actually harder.
So, for example, I recently bought some DLC for Cities: Skylines so I've started a new city to take advantage of the new features. Planning is extremely important for getting your infrastructure right.
It becomes very easy for me to sit there and plan out parts of my cities for hours on end. In my mind, I'm thinking "well, I'll just sort out this small area", but before you know it you've spent 2 hours laying out the perfect road network, putting in rail, tram and bus lines, adding city services like police, schools etc. This is before you've even zoned out your area for residential, commercial and industrial! So then you zone and you think to yourself "yeh, that looks like its going to work, I wonder if it will?" So then you sit back and watch your city start to grow, that leaves you time to think about tweaks and stuff.
Before you know it, 4 hours have passed and all you've done is create one small section of your city! And there is always more to do....tweaks to improve the aesthetics, changing road types to improve traffic flow, adding roundabouts, adding unique buildings, changing bus lines.....it keeps sucking you in!
The total war games have a similar effect. I always start with a strategy - I'm gonna build a new army then send it into that province - but it might take 10 turns to build the army, each turn could take 10-15 minutes. You don't want to stop playing until you have executed your strategy, so you keep going. Yeh, easily waste hours that way.
Currently Playing: WAR RoR - Spitt rr7X Black Orc | Scrotling rr6X Squig Herder | Scabrous rr4X Shaman
If I haven't gotten lost into the game then the game hasn't been fun enough to continue playing. I've got a shorter list of games not worth my time. Those games included Star Wars Galaxies (well any Star Wars game), Anarchy Online, World of Warcraft and several generic east asian MMOs that I can't be bothered to remember the names of.
Most people have never heard of the earliest game I can remember getting lost in time with; Stonekeep.

gotta be Elite Dangerous lol hanging out in hi-rez with a vulture trying not to get my cockpit blew out kinda has a way making one lose all sense of time. And don't even get me started on exploration....
Skyrim still holds my longest record, but I've put a lot of hours into single-player RTS campaigns, Sim City, and some of the long single-player RPGs for the PS1. As far as MMOs, I played Dofus for 6+ months, that's probably my longest.
I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story. So PM me if you are starting one.
My longest record would be Morrowind back when it launched just on PC. All my friends were playing it and we would meet up at the local pub and talk about what we did or discovered in that game. Man the good old days. LOL i remember upgrading my graphics card so a could have pixel shader 2 for the reflective water.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
I've heard good things about Rimworld and Factorio.
I've played a lot of Skyrim, but even more Oblivion and Morrowind.
What happens when you log off your characters????.....
