reasion why enjoyed because almost everything open world PVP/PK/Boss
i dont like you can break gear/wep
bdo is 99% grind i dont see fun grind 6 months or more for nothing when you break wep/gear
Private Servers eliminate grind, buff up drops, etc.
Since the game you are looking for is probably going to be one of the Asian games then they have a lot of grind. That's just sort of their nature.
The only thing I can say is play Elder Scrolls Online and just do pvp in Cyrodiil. Especially if you like tinkering with builds.

i like grind but with 100% chance to improve gear how is WOW?
@Wellspring my english is sux
I've been playing Dark Souls a lot lately and it's nice to play a game where you aren't running around picking up, following, and handing in quests to level up. It's more about exploration and you can level up by grinding or you can beat the game at level 1 if you have the skill. I don't have the skill so I level up. For me, it's hard even after leveling up and getting good weapons and armor. Dark Souls also has a lot more meaningful character customizations.

I also feel like ARPGs have missed the board with the emphasis on constant rerolling. I feel like PoE could have potentially been a nice alternative to an MMORPG, but I can't be bothered to constantly reroll and relevel characters for their leagues. Same with Diablo III and Seasons.
I don't think newer MMORPGs like Elder Scrolls Online are all that great, to be honest. The gameplay lacks depth, and the way they have designed and balanced the classes is very offputting to people who want clearly distinct classes to play - especially when they're looking for specific types of classes.
I like Necromancer/Warlock type classes, and ESO has nothing that really fills that niche for me, which makes the game torture to play. It simply doesn't appeal to me, at all, as a result of that. Same for Guild Wars II. This leave older MMORPGs like WoW or "pretty much dead" MMORPGs like EQ, EQ2, and Age of Conan as the only viable options...
Many of us have already been there, and we stopped playing them for a reason.
I'm thinking about learning a MOBA and going that route, soon.
It really depends on how you game and what your general gaming motivations and goals are. If you want to play end-game, then 1 month in an MMORPG isn't going to cut it - neither is taking breaks "whenever." End-gamers take breaks at strategic time (during content lulls, for example), not simply "when they feel like it." With that kind of play schedule, you will never get there.
However, I do totally agree that it's a good idea to play other games as well. Honestly, I think a console is a good idea for MMORPG games. Get away from the Keyboard and mouse and go relax in bed or on the couch and play Witcher III or something.
Playing other genres of games is a good way to avoid burning yourself out, as well. A shooter like Overwatch, or a MOBA like LoL or HotS may not be a bad idea. Even strategy games like SCII or card games like Hearthstone.
I think something that many MMORPG players do, which probably contributes to burn out, is they play different MMORPG games concurrently... After a certain amount of time, it becomes like playing the same game, anyways... It's really good to switch things up a bit more, IMO.
Many times you can take your guildies with you to those other games, as well.
Most MMORPGs are specifically set up to delay total gratification until end-game, and to punish playing in limited spurts.
Most F2P games monetize in a way that is not wholly cosmetic, and many of those involve a certain level of grinding unless you're spending RL cash in the cash shop. Those tend to be even more punishing to people who try to play in spurts than the subscription games (which have no major incentive to do this, since they monetize through the subscription).
Try Eve online or wait for Pantheon if you don't like space MMOs.
Also, they have never really done much to combat ebaying and botting, except provide you with legit mea s to ebay, which means the people with the largest credit limit get the best gear and win the most fights.
Gear, more often than not, trumps skill in this game. The combat system isn't one that really rewards skilled gameplay, anyways. balance is awful, as well.
played l2 from prelude until c3 on official, then c4 until ct1 on private servers and then on and off until high five.
i actively play poe and battlerite though i couldn't play an mmorpg for more than a month despite loving mmorpgs. nothing ever came close to what lineage 2 had to offer back in its glory days.
that's until i started BDO on december 2016 and i'm still playing to this day.
give a it a shot for a month and see from there. worst case scenario you spent 10 dollars for a game you didn't like.
be careful though, BDO is quite expensive and despite what a lot of people will say, heavily pay to "win". (not in the traditional sense of p2w though. you can play without pets/inventory expansion/weight but you will hate the game if you don't fork out money.)
it is, in my opinion, the best mmo on the market (business model aside of course) and worth a try at the very least.
if you end up liking the game, be prepared to spend a hundred bucks minimum. if you are ok with that, you are in for a treat. if you don't want/can't spend money on it, forget about BDO.
No, just no! Everything you just said is the reason why MMORPG's absolutely suck these days. Too many crappy free to play MMOs littered with game hoppers is just destroying the genre.
