Dark n Light - A Revisit - Eyebrow Raised in a good way.

I am a big fan of MMORPG's but the past few years the mixing of them and Survival Base Building games gave me a curiosity of future possibilities. Let down after let down is all I have experienced the past few years with titles promising so much and coming up short.

I dropped Dark n Light 2 months after launch, like a snap of the fingers. I recently started noticing a lot of content being patched in on their steam page. After updating my client and logging in, surprise there is some population here.

Conan Exiles - Let Down
Ark -Let Down
Black Desert - RNG, Grind, Time Sinc, could have been a living breathing world. Let down
Star Wars Galaxies, Murdered 
Life Is Feudal MMO - WTF Grind, part-time Job digging a ditch is really digging a ditch like real life. Who thought this would be fun?

Back to Dark n Light and Its 4 days later and I am building friends and giddy about my future plans for the game. Griefing in the game is not as prevalent as Rust, ARK, or other games. It takes a lot to wipe your homestead off the map. The magic, sorcery, crafting, taming, recipe intricacies, are insane and the ART is badass too.

Haven't played since launch but loved it then. Think I'm going to Re download and jump in this weekend to see what's changed. And you are right, even when I played griefing/ganking wasn't a big thing on servers.

One thing for sure is the game runs a lot better now. Glad to see you are enjoying it.

I want to try it out but the idea of it being like another job to maintain all of my work is just not fun to me.  I have a real home to do that with already :P

My theory is that it often takes a new game a year or two to be the way I would have liked it to be at launch.

I agree that a game shouldn't be overly complicated and demand the work required of having a second job.  Shouldn't be necessary to start a new character just to get use to playing the game again if you haven't played for awhile.

I came back to Dark and Light recently and got meh again, Ark + More Bugs, the balance inconsistency doesn't make sense, start in a fresh server, walk 2 steps out of town get attacked by mobs of much higher difficulties and get instant kill cause why not, I just meh.
