This game, judging by the videos, looks way too linear for me. When are the Eastern MMO creators, going to give us freedom to quest laterally? Then just progress with the main quest line at ones own pace.
Bless Online Team: There will not be separate PVE or PVP servers, but we understand that many players do not wish to partake in PVP until it’s on their own terms. To help with this, there will be a consumable item that players can buy in-game to make them non-PVP enabled. This will work all the way to the level cap, last for a time, and has no cooldown. At the level cap, the item will still be obtainable, but via the Cash Shop
Good news for pvers
Meh.. so you will have to pay in game money to toggle pvp off and at cap you will have to pay cash shop money to toggle pvp off.
As a mostly pve player I find this a turn off an feel it doesn't bode well for pvers, they should have just added a pvp toggle/flag.
"Still, if they wish to avoid PVP, they’ll be able to buy the consumable in the cash shop, and you will also be able to earn cash shop currency via in-game activities as well."
To me this is saying that if you truly are a dedicated PvE'er you'll be able to dodge PvP. Probably do your daily mandatory log-in and playthrough you'll be fine. How much time that will cost you on a daily basis is the crux, I'm guessing 2-3 hours though.
I like it either way because there's a difference between a person who only complains about PvP and someone who really likes to PvE. If you're the second you probably have nothing to worry about. If you're the first then this game is not for you (they mentioned they hope you like their sieging and suggested endgame content is mostly PvP)
The thought that like most mmorpg titles they would have a simple /pvp command to turn the flag on and off.
Plus not requiring a real money transaction regularly. SO that would be a sub.
Plus having a purchase price, AND a cash shop and a required purchase for a personal playstyle CHOICE is just greedy. This cash shop will become P2W at this rate I bet.
As of now, me, and all of my close mmorpg friends will not be playing this title now.
I've emailed them this interview. They are all not happy with this news.
Having said that we are all very thankful to mmorpg.com for this info! This will help save us all money!

Most pvp titles having a toggle to opt out?
Lineage 2 wasn't like that, Dark Fall wasn't like that, Black Desert isn't like that past a certain level.
Not Shadowbane. Not Archeage though it seems that it has pvp designated times. That's off the top of my head.
What pvp centric games had toggles?

From what I saw when I looked into Bless after this announcement of May EA, I hadn't seen anything stating that it was a pvp centic title. From the what I saw this past week it just looked like another mmorpg. I didn't see anything anywhere saying that it was basically Crowfall.
I'm not sure why your all arguing about pvp vs pve, its obvious the endgame is pvp, if you can't handle that simply find another game to play.
Instead of going into the game expecting pve experience all the way, thats just setting yourself up for dissapointment the first time you get killed but weren't expecting it to happen
What most of us are saying is we are tired of this worn out model....Give us a great PVE experience at end game.

This is not a pve game I don't understand all the whining. If all you want is a pve game then go play any single player game out there . Pvers are just luckly most mmorpgs have pve elements to them, period. But most like 95% are not designed strictly for pve it's just a fact of life in this day and age thats what single player games are for. Go play one .Personally I think it's retarded to have a game where I can not engage in combat unless given permission to engage or strictly instance based. But I do however agree that safe zones need to exist . Well enough about that and on to my actual comment.
In the interview they mention housing this is great news as before there was no mention of it and I was really turned off by this game bit I would like to know more about the housing other then the veg mention of it. Such as.. will housing be instance based or will housing be anyhwere? Or in designated housing areas? Like in Archeage for example. Also will there be any purpose to the house like farming livestock ect..? Or will it be for storage and cosmetic reasons only . What other metrics or purpose will the housing entail . I personally would prefer no instanced housing like in star wars galaxies or archeage for example.. will housing require taxes to be paid . How in depth will the housing system be or will it be a facade?
I don't understand how mentally obtuse you have to be to repeatedly look at games that are clearly one way and complain about them not being another way, because you want it the other way instead of ignoring it.
There are plenty of other successful full PVE titles out there, clearly. According to you bozos PVP is niche, retarded, dumb, for sociopaths... yet once again here you are.
It's absolutely mind boggling.

That's how some of you appear to me.
It's pretty clear Bless is trying to wrangle the market share a sub-only non-P2W version of Archeage would have. The question is if it's BS or not.
I call bullshit, but would be happy to be wrong.

Black Desert, you can flag yourself for open pvp after level 55 . Lineage 2 you had to hold ctrl key so I would consider that a flag. Usually any system that is color based has a flag system. To me flags are basically toggles.
no they aren't.
A "toggle for pvp/pve" is just that. Don't want to pvp today? toggle it off. Today is a pvp day? Toggle it on.
you can opt one or the other.
Flagging is something else. It doesn't stop someone from attacking you. All it does is enable you to attack them.

What a weird way to do what is essentially a run of the mill PVP flagging system.
It's not weird at all because it isn't a pvp flagging system.
A pvp flagging system means you can be one or the other. They don't want this as they aren't interested in a pve game.
They want players to eventually move to pvp. And for those who never want this they will then make money off them.
But 10 minutes? This is not worth it. It means that every 10 minutes you need to stop and activate another peace dove item. That's very disruptive to play. Even if it doesn't cost that much.
Potayto potahto. It is a flagging system, or more precisely, an unflagging one.
The only difference between this and the countless other games that have had one is that in other games it's a persistent on-off toggle and here it's time limited and costs gold or $ depending on level.
But its effect is exactly the same: you consume this thing and you can't be touched by other players.

?
A flagging system just engages pvp. it doesn't keep someone from attacking you. That is the crux of the issue.
There is absolutely no way, in a pvp game, to keep from gettign attacked unless you are not of level to engage in the pvp or you hide in a safe area.
if it helps then call it an "unflagging system" (which you did say), an immunity system, etc.

The way this works is an opt out system with a timed toggle. Most systems are opt-in with a fire and forget toggle.
Imagine if other MMOs let you toggle pvp flag "off" and then charged you an amount of gold every 10 minutes you left it on. Then at end game it charged your credit card?
That's why I think his semantics argument works. It is essentially the same system with logic implemented from the opposite perspective of how every other system works.
The devs obviously aren't pve players or they might have realized that this will not work. It's a good idea on paper, trying to accommodate the players, but the pragmatics of it are ridiculous.
Why are they making the PvE demographic play Pavlovian dog tricks with the pills and end game cash shop? If they took a few moments to step outside of their space for a moment I think they'd realize it's not a fun thing for players to do.
Well, he did say "unflagging system" so point taken.
I think they are doing it because they want to make money off it. But it's cumbersome. 10 minutes?
Even if I was willing to pay it, it's annoying to have to activate this feature for 10 minutes.
It needs to be at least an hour and more along the lines of 90 minutes. Oh, it's still annoying but as I mentioned, they don't want to invest in more pve game play than they have to since they want this to be a pvp game.

I'm not gonna even bother with this game if they want you to jump through hoops to even have a mule. I'll stick with BDO, at least there you can have crafter alts, fishing alt and gear mules with no BS maintenance buffs. I have a Musa that I've leveled up and that is the only one I bother keeping geared up for the main pve/owpvp apsects of the game.
The 10 minute timer on the peace potion is what's currently in the game. For the western launch, I'd hope they'd increase that to an hour. Popping six potions an hour while I'm trying to quest will be sufficiently annoying gameplay for most PVErs. I was hoping they'd change to a toggle system for the western launch in an effort to mitigate P2W complaints.
Different ruleset servers solve everything.. but yet these guys like so many before believe that their game will be different. Arrogance or ego.. whatever it is is at it again.

Heard Paladin could be better as healer than Mystic since Mystics strong points are DoT attacks.
That makes this an immediate no buy.
I was going to try it if it was F2P, but now with a price tag on it, AND a price for flagging pvp off means this is DOA to me.
This will be skipped now.

I think "mmorpg titles in general" usually just keep the pvp separate as a matter of course.
And sure, I think games that are predominantly pvp are probably niche in some ways.
