Supposed to be able to build a character I heard, even ones that are not combat focused. I would like to see more of a you are the character and not a set protagonist like Geralt in TW3.
    I didn't like TW3 because I never liked Geralt.

Couldnt have said it better myself......im so done with these Adam Jensen deuche characters in games you are forced to play.

Honestly? I'm kind of underwhelmed and disappointed. I expected a very dark and gritty sci-fi game but it looks very lighthearted and a little cheesy.

I'm sure it's going to be awesome, it just isn't what I was expecting.

My feelings exactly - the original teaser was MUCH MUCH better - this looks way less impressive to me.

Still gonna play it but my hopes are lessened with this one - maybe the gameplay will still be totally kick ass.

    the cheese factor was high

Was hoping for more of this:

Your fault you confused Blade Runner with Cyberpunk.
Well, the descriptions of the Cyberpunk world do seem to place it as similar to Blade Runner.

Hearing Mike Pondsmith discuss the IP in a YouTube video, it sounds very similar to the aesthetic we get in Blade Runner.

Even daylight is marred by cloudy, rainy days.  I mean, the central location is called Night City.
So what is Cyberpunk then? Blade Runner seems pretty Cyberpunk to me.
The chicken or the egg isn't relevant to the poster I was responding to.  Either way, the description by one of the creators matches what we see in Blade Runner.

The poster I was responding to seemed to think it was ludicrous for folks to expect a similar aesthetic.  It's not ludicrous; by the very description given by Pondsmith, they are similar aesthetics.  How one would expect them not to be similar seems the better question to me.
Personally I plan to sleep all day and play the game only at night :)
Lol fair enough.  And oddly enough, from the Blade Runner wiki page:

"The dystopian themes explored in Blade Runner are an early example of the expansion of cyberpunkconcepts into cinema"

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blade_Runner

Seems totally legitimate to expect to see the same aesthetic to me.

EDIT- I should make it clear that I'm not implying they SHOULD be similar, only that it definitely is logical to hold that expectation.  As in Fantasy, there's a lot of wiggle room for creativity and originality to be expressed, and I think it's a good thing if they aren't so similar as to constantly elicit comparison.

“I was afraid to watch Blade Runner in the theater because I was afraid the movie would be better than what I myself had been able to imagine. In a way, I was right to be afraid, because even the first few minutes were better.”

“I met Ridley Scott years later, maybe a decade or more after Blade Runner was released. I told him what Neuromancer was made of, and he had basically the same list of ingredients for Blade Runner.” – William Gibson

I want a Blade Runner MMO or shared world shooter so badly.
I know right! Between Blade Runner and Dune either one would be amazing!
Omg how could I forget about Dune???

Somebody tell CR to take the parts of SC and relaunch a Kickstarter to use them in a Dune MMO, quick!

Yeah I've read that before. Blade Runner was just as important for establishing what we associate visually with the genre as the early books were in establishing the themes. Visual media including other movies and games have been using the Blade Runner look as their visual base ever since.

If you watched Altered Carbon on Netflix recently you would have seen how much Blade Runner is still influencing the look of other cyberpunk films these many years later.

What CDPR is doing with a daytime Night City demo is a deliberate step away from that. It's jarring and edgy in that sense.

This appeals to me much more than The Witcher 3 does. I hope the world is as interesting as it looks. I also hope the combat is better than the combat in the Witcher games.

Well, if you like FPS games over TPS, then I suppose it is.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

Altered Carbon was very much an example of Blade Runner's influence.  While I found it mediocre in the narrative itself, I really liked the world they built with that one.

It was fine. I've been a Richard K. Morgan fan for a long time and read the Takeshi Kovacs novels quite a while ago. So long ago that I can't remember if all the back and forth with flashbacks was as much a feature in that first book as it was in the mini-series. I found that to be the more distracting part of the screen adaptation and could have done with a lot less of it.

The people living on the Bay bridge was also a nice little nod to Gibson's Bridge trilogy.

Oh yes "sleeve" that is what comes to mind when I think of Takeshi Kovacs.

The torture in the first book was quite novel.

It was a unique and awesome take on space travel.
