I'm shocked that editor of MMORPG.com didn't know definition of MMORPG and mistook MOG for it.
I'm shocked to the point that this post forced me to write my first comment in 10-11 years since registration.
I don't know, it's not a solo RPG, not co-op, and I have the chance to meet someone from a pool of thousands of other random players when I'm playing. That may not qualify as massive to some people, but it's everything I look for in an MMORPG.

Well instead of the typical hype and instead of hearing from people who may be influenced by the bright lights and hundreds of fake cheers and clapping at E3,i decided to find out more about the game from the designer..Todd and interviews.

First of all,NO it is not a MMO,go figure this site talks about how good the game is yet gets  that simple aspect wrong. The maps 6 of them will feature dozens of players NOT hundreds.

Rather than paragraphs of description,i got a very simple feel for this game,it is in reality H1Z1 with a different skin and instead of ripping people off with 1 map this has 6.
Does the genre need yet another survival, shooter,no i do not think it does and the thought of grabbing yet another pistol or minnigun just bores the heck out me.

CREATIVITY in game design in the 2000's,WHERE is it,all we are seeing is a new skin with same old ideas.

One thing i have yet to find out and SHOULD have been the very first question asked is if there will be a cash shop,i feel likely there is but nobody has asked or saying yet.

The solo play part I don't understand ... will they allow people to play alone with no interference or do they mean a solo play style where you still can have others destroy what you have built and able to interact with other players.
This is the real vague crap from Todd. Yes you can solo means you don't have to group up with people. But if those people decide to kill you then to bad.
That is what I took from it.  You can play solo and die alone or go with friends and die as a group.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

ESO is an MMORPG that doesn't force me to play like one. FO76 isn't an MMO but forces me to play like one. Of course. It makes perfect sense.
It's sort of like trying to solo a Battlefield game. It's not that it plays like an MMO, it plays like an online-only title.

"Dozens of your friends. Not hundreds or even thousands." ---Todd Howard
Not an mmorpg in my book. More of a Rust or DayZ type game which is what was reported previous to tonight. Still sounds like a really cool game. Regardless of what it is 'labelled'
Dozens sounds a bit fuzzy, I rather have a number before deciding if I think it is a massive game or not. 32 players on a map is not massive since tons of FPS games have that number. More then so I guess I could call it a "MMO (even though it isn't super "massive"), 32 or less and it is a CORPG like GW.

But it does make sense from a RP perspective to have fewer people in a zone after the apocalypse then in a huge fantasy world. What really matters is if it is fun or not though, I think this is as close to a real Western AAA MMORPG being announced this year as we get.

The last info "leaked" says around 30 players per "server".

If thats as close to having an MMO made in the West as we're going to get, then might as well say that the only MMO's now are coming out of Korea, though given that my preferred game these days is BDO, that might actually be the case.
Kind of a sad indictment on western games though tbh, maybe thats why WoW is still a thing and games like BDO, FFXIV, ESO and Eve have very little in the way of real competition.
Speaking of the original GW, the developers/publishers classed it as a COOP RPG, but how many ignored that and instead insisted that it was an MMO, despite all evidence to the contrary? that they will undoubtedly ignore the facts and developer statements and also insist that this game is also an MMO because 'insert irrelevant reason here' is as inevitable as it is hillarious and only distracts from whether or not the game is going to actually be any good, fingers crossed on that one tbh  :p

K but unless we can make private sessions, I'm pretty sure it's just going to end up like GTA Online with nukes.
