serious? people are raging about first person now? when eso only had 3rd person they wnated 1st, now company make the game and put 1st person out people complayin too?, kinda a useless complain, also you guys forget its will have guns too so, more then likely it will work like deus ex
I get nausea and headaches in first person and I have tried adjusting FOV and even in the most generous settings the best I can play is 20 minutes and I was not raging.
FOV adjustment to stop nausea/headaches isn't inputting the largest value. It's should be a ratio based on your screen with/height (mine is around 92-95). Also, I have to remove motion blur, head bob, film grain, depth of field (and sometimes other settings) and I must not look at cinematic movement that include swift camera movement of the head (example: every time I do a dash into a vent in DX:MD I have to look in the corner of the screen or I get an headaches).
Once I learned to adjust my settings and behavior I haven't got any issue in recent 1st person games.
I have tried most of those things when I still bothered to buy a game that was FPS now I just don't buy it any more. I would check every single option that I could think of and also the forums but I may be suffering from a particularly bad case.

There are some wristbands that helps with that, I think I saw a news here about it.
I don't think those wristbands work but thanks. I don't get that badly seasick though but max I have been on a boat is 3 hours so perhaps not a good gauge. I used to get carsick when I am on very bad windy roads as a passenger not if I'm driving oddly enough.
Some interesting perspective about his sources and so on. Just slap it into another tab and listen
Honestly, it's not that I won't play. I'm sure I will and like it. I'm just less twitterpated.
This is why developers shouldn't share with players.
He mentions that they have a powerpoint slide indicating both 3rd/1st. Great! They now changed their minds. They are developers. Part of the process is to explore what you are creating and change it along the way. Nothing is ever set in stone.
But as soon as you share with players "it's in stone".

It's interesting how things like this work sometimes.
Same thing happens when things get Datamined out of devs. People freak out over everything, act like their assumptions are correct and then learn the information wasn't what they thought.

Not the game for u then. Look elswhere. Many people have one limb. I don't see them moaning about mittens being sold in pairs.
Good to read so many good comments, pretty much everyone is correct.
I am certain they are going first person as mentioned to cut down on a lot of optimization and costs. As well it is also way more immersive and imo realistic than a 3rd person camera in the sky. Now my other opinion and one i have mentioned in the past with shooter type games and pvp. A 3rd person view allows cheating, able to see around corners and stuff. Now if there is a FOV setting, players will still be able to cheat a bit. So WHY the first person?Perhaps everyone is correct.
I loved witcher 3, except for the combat that I felt was mediocre. With cyberpunk 2077 its more important that they get the setting, story and roleplaying parts right. I don't have strong feelings about first person vs third person on this one until I know how combat plays out

I was not complaining I merely stated why I cannot play FPS and your example is truly offensive.

Motion sickness happens because the visual information you are getting doesn't match what your body sensors (vestibular system) are sensing. When you are driving, your body feels the car movement and your vision is usually focused on a small field of view at the front so the sensors are "happy".
That means in a 1st person game, you brain takes what the eye see as what is supposed to be happening to your body and the sensors don't like it. I wish I knew how I managed to deal with it in games, maybe I started to move like my character based on the action I'm giving and it's not all just adjusting the settings. hmm.

Some companies are developing anti motion sickness wristbands. It may worth a try.
I bought some so I could play Dying Light, they helped a little but not that much and were actually uncomfortable and a pain to always be putting on for just a few games so I stopped using them and stopped playing DL. Its a shame though because I was really enjoying that game when I wasn't getting sick.
You know just because it lacks a 3rd person veve does not mean it's going to be bad. Look at Deus ex, for example. I prefer 1st person if the game is built around it. Being in 3rd person seeing your charterch is an emersion breaker if you think about it
I don't buy that myself. If that breaks your immersion surely the UI and everything else that makes it a game would also.
You don't have to buy it. He feels more immersed according to him.
Actually what happened there is that he suggested that it breaks immersion. Asking "you" the reader to consider that proposition. I counterproposed that the UI and other game elements are more intrusive. Problem? I've heard they throw damage numbers on screen too. Saw that in the Anthem video. Nothing screams "You're in a game!!" more than numbers careening off your target. Immersion broken, give me Third Person or . . . who am I kidding, I'll play it anyway, but I'll be less than 100% satisfied for sure. Probably 99%ish . . . >_>
I like the immersion in first person games. I feel like in First Person games the developers work more on the environment and the players get more out of searching a room and not always having a view to everything. Its a bit more personal and intimate in that manner.
I enjoyed the Deus Ex series a lot (all Except Invisible War) It goes down to the environment and attitude of the game.
I will wait until release and reviews to see if this game is worth it at all. Trailers do not convince me anymore due to the fact that purpose of a trailer these days is to market the hype more than anything else.
I am still anticipating it, but first person camera severely reduces my enjoyment of any game. Unless it's a shooter, first person camera kills depth and action, resulting in travesties such as the Skyrim/Kingdom Come/etc. combat systems.
Even having FPV as an option reduces any review score I would give a non-shooter due too holding back the TPV combat system. FPV exclusivity reduces any review score I would give further.
I won't make an exception even for CD Projeckt.
To clarify, I'm not boycotting the game or anything. I'm sure it's going to be incredible and I will enjoy it.
But I am highly disappointed with the lack of a 3rd person perspective. It's a huge deal to me.
Some games are played best in first person view, to give an example Skyrim, sure you could play the game in 3rd person but imo it was a much degraded form of gameplay compared to the first person viewpoint, these days though i am more concerned with whether or not the game is stuck at 30 fps rather than a more natural looking 60 fps+ particularly as 30fps tends to be harder on the eyes and i'd rather not have to pop a couple of ibrufen after an hour of gameplay.
