I like how you definitely know that SQ42 would be sub par if it released sooner (sooner than what, considering it has no release date)... but you also definitely know that if it released when it's supposed to release (which noone knows when, not even Chris) it won't be sub par.
I'm starting to understand the compulsory optimism fans need to have in order to actually defend this project. The game is an utter mess without it.
Isn't it logical?
Considering the current reality of SC, from graphics to tech, vs SQ42 if say it released years ago on a more push just to finish its original feature-set and play mechanics, with it released and SC continuing developing up until today, it would definitively end up sub-par.
Because since then, from entire new pieces of tech to improve graphics, to the tech that overhauls how the game loads things changing the original design where things loaded in "maps" such as the original Arccorp make-believe loading, would be things that SQ42 would not have had, if they didn't just keep pushing it back as SC developed as well.
Another example and this is more related to a PU feature brought to SQ42, is the planets, on the citcon demo last year we saw that seamless merge of a mission flowing from space to the surface of a planet, what if you ask me compliments it well going beyond having the whole SP campaign playing out in space.
I think they took a bigger bite than what they could chew by doing both games at once and especially wanting to release one quite sooner than the other, all things considered from it seems clear SQ42 should have shared the release date with SC itself, and end of the day I would speculate that will be what will happen, likely not at the same time, but not far apart.
God this is one sad fucking soap opera. I'm really starting to feel sorry for the people defending this asshole (CR). You're getting raked and your rationalizations are sounding more and more hollow as time goes on. Just too young and naive to realize when you're getting hosed I guess. Us older folks know a scam when we see one.

I think it is the "In too deep" analogy at this point. Erillion is too far in to pull out now. Just need to hang in there and hope for the best.

They are not releasing something? well that shouldn't be an suprise
They are releasing things every three months.
Last weekend Alpha 3.2 was released to the live servers.
Fancy yourself a miner ? Go and get rich hurting rocks (instead of other pilots) !
Have fun
You forgot to mention that one needs a 120$ ship to shoot at rocks.
Except you don't, every playable ship is available to anyone who's willing to try them. It's the beauty of having proper space legs and fully modeled ship interiors.
All you have to do is use the chat ingame and ask for a test-drive and I bet you won't have to wait more than a couple of minutes for an invite!
I just spent ~1 hour mining diamonds in Daymar, made about 2k and bought a new rifle thanks to a friendly citizen.
Got a ride on the 600i from Daymar to GrimHex also. Beautiful ship.
Guess you'll have to find other stuff to bitch about, hating on Star Citizen for so long makes for a kinda repetitive speech lol
Given the lackluster gameplay they showed last time further delays were expected. Then again with chris roberts constant delays are expected so nothing new with this announcement.
Iselin: And the next person who says "but it's a business, they need to make money" can just go fuck yourself.
So what does "needs more testing and optimization" exactly mean? Does it
mean that the game's been all ready including game elements like all the
ships and other vehicles, planets, moons, stations, characters, races, factions, AI tech, story elements, etc?
I have an impression that it's not just testing and optimization is what's left to do but even the core tech shared with SC is being developed besides the game elememts mentioned above.

Someone still had to buy that ship with real money. Just because you didn’t doesn’t change the fact so let’s not play that game

Needs more testing and optimization in this case probably means we still need to build huge parts of the game as well as create working AI, physics, models, ships, storyline, and then scrap it all and start over again because Chris Roberts is a micromanaging nightmare
Yeah guys.. it's only being delayed because it's going to be even better and even prettier.
Come to think of it, it's better that it's never released because when it is released, it would look even more amazing and play even better if it was delayed even further.
Chris only wants the best... we can't have the best if the game actually releases and the dream ceases to exist.
Release is the ultimate disappointment.

Hopefully the game will release in the next year or 3, but honestly, i doubt i am the only one who would not be shocked beyond measure if the game had somehow managed to launch this year

There's no way CIG would go into a launch without advertising. They've said this before too, they don't want to spend money on advertising until the game is ready for production.

Doesn't invalidate what I said, Anyone can log on and pilot every ship available.
No need to get restless folks, it will release when it's ready a like all games of Chris Roberts it will be worth it!
The vertical slice with dev's cometary is also very nice!
The difference between this game and all other games Chris Roberts has actually managed to release is that he had a publisher to keep him in check.
Why do you think Star Citizen and Squadron 42 got so much funding and hype in the first place?
People LOVED Chris Roberts games when he was restrained by publishers/budget/tech/time limitations.
It's been 5 years and they keep getting around 30 million a year give or take lol
This alpha version already delivers so many of the features that space sim enthusiasts have always dreamed about since they were kids.
That's why it keeps going, no matter what the haters say or try, Star Citizen keeps on getting better and better while gaining more and more backers and funds.
It's been such a nice journey to be part of. Very, very exciting times.

Hey to each their own. A lot of us have better ways to waste our money than making a guy who can't keep deadlines without a publisher breathing down his neck, rich. And it's not a case of haters so quit generalizing. Most of us are just completely shocked that he proves P.T. Barnum right almost every day.

The argument i'll never understand is the "No SQ42 Trailer" one, we have a 2-hour play through of the current game.
