Such a directed spin on CR with that one heh, the money pledged for SC pays the wagers of over 450 people, the SC backers are not throwing money at a random guy to pretend he's making a game. Comments as that will be nothing but hyperbole. Deadlines met or not, the progress this game continues to show is undeniable, having 3.2 just released stated as the most playable and enjoyable version the game has ever gotten as the most general feedback as one example. And for those who care about a game here, that's all that matters.

    I've wasted money in many games I found it a waste, like recently Sea of Thieves and most recently Bless Online, SC is not one of those.

    You forgot to mention that one needs a 120$ ship to shoot at rocks.
    Except you don't, every playable ship is available to anyone who's willing to try them. It's the beauty of having proper space legs and fully modeled ship interiors.

    All you have to do is use the chat ingame and ask for a test-drive and I bet you won't have to wait more than a couple of minutes for an invite!

    I just spent ~1 hour mining diamonds in Daymar, made about 2k and bought a new rifle thanks to a friendly citizen. 

    Got a ride on the 600i from Daymar to GrimHex also. Beautiful ship.

It's been 5 years and they keep getting around 30 million a year give or take lol This alpha version already delivers so many of the features that space sim enthusiasts have always dreamed about since they were kids. That's why it keeps going, no matter what the haters say or try, Star Citizen keeps on getting better and better while gaining more and more backers and funds. It's been such a nice journey to be part of. Very, very exciting times.

    But there is a game.

    The argument i'll never understand is the "No SQ42 Trailer" one, we have a 2-hour play through of the current game. 
    Is there a completed game? No there isn’t and given his track record with running his own game studios I’ll believe it when I see it in a released state

    I mean, you're not completely wrong. The only part i'll argue is the fact that CIG is still a world wide company with hundreds of employees, he can at least run that.

    I mean, you're not completely wrong. The only part i'll argue is the fact that CIG is still a world wide company with hundreds of employees, he can at least run that. 
    Can he really run that though? We’ve seen plenty of waste from this game and missed deadlines from his micromanaging and egotistic nature. 

    This might have have been a amazing game if Chris was the idea guy in the shadows and the big decisions were left to someone else with experience successfully running a game studio. As it stands now it’s kind of a running joke mostly because of Chris.

    The only running joke is how the haters think that anyone else could do a better job than Chris Roberts yet they can't point to any Game Dev or Studio who's doing anything remotely close to assembling a gaming company from scratch, open 5 studios, hire 500 people and do games as ambitious as Star Citizen and Squadron 42 while turning the development showcase into a 30 million dollar a year funding lol

    Poor Chris is doing so bad it's perceived as good :D

    And that's why I said to each his own. It's your money to do with as you wish. FYI I and many others here are not "haters" I have played every one of his games but I am also aware of how they got to market and the enormous size of this guy's ego. Wing Commander Movie anyone? At that point he had had enough of games and was going to take Hollywood by storm.

    At the end of the day, my stance is to wait and see what person Chris will be remembered as. Will it be as the guy who persevered and launched his dream game, or is it as the biggest crowdfunding failure of all time? Till the pieces fall i'm reserving judgement, especially since i have no basis for other companies behind the scenes. He has gotten this far after all.

    I like how you have to bring up how they had to assemble a gaming company from scratch, open all these studios and hire all these people before you actually mention a game. It’s like you know the game is in a piss poor position so you have to try and prop it up.

    And yes anyone could do a better job then Chris Roberts because Chris Roberts has already shown he sucks at running his own game studio and with his new one he is making the same mistakes. At this point (and I’m saying this purely to trigger the fanboys) id trust Derek Smart to make the game better.

    I agree with that sentiment of to each their own too with their time, actions, &/or money as long as it isn't intentionally harming another.  I do hope these games, Squadron 42 & Star Citizen, finally release & are superb, but it does seem sometimes like a bad joke with regards to a release date.

    At this point it might just be supported by some sort of incestuous confirmation bias supporters since if someone invested heavily into this game of course they need the validation that it was a smart thing to do.

    At this stage since it is taking so long I won't even buy it till it has been released for awhile just to make sure the quality is justified.  For those that toss money at it already & continue to do so with those $27K packs & the like, good for you for supporting something you believe in.

    Maybe it will release in another year or so or we can all post about it some more being a distinct probably.

    Because I remember countless arguments and comparations to other games and companies that already had their studios setup and budgets from day-1, and sometimes even in-house engines, when comparing their scopes, development timeframes, etc...  On that aspect, that history of CIG with the SC development is something that can't be ignored when one wants to speak of the whole story to talk about present reality.

    Those game companies started from scratch at some point and when they did some of them also were making games that would be considered revolunatary so please don’t try to make it seem like SC is the first of its kind to do this because it really isn’t. But that wasn’t the point I was making anyway.

    Yes many companies when they start are most likely to do mistakes, just see Amazon Studios already cancelling their first games because they didn't work out. Usually new companies start small and grow to big, now CIG was created to literally create the most ambitious game, that's what made it difficulty 11 not 10, and if you recall those Kotaku articles where they talk about the mistakes and problems of the early days you clearly notice that, they had to outsource a ton of stuff because they didn't have enough in-house resources and a communication nightmare caused a massive amount work wasted.

    Now am really confused. So Chris who as we been told for years controls everything with the company, now we are expected to believe someone else controls the money and money counter?

    Does that mean anything?  It means that they have higher costs than what they crowdfund, they likely have other sources of income now what is implied by them, can be selling services, even licensing tech, partnerships, investors, etc...

    I notice you completely skipped answering the question.  Chris runs the whole show we have known that for years, so to think that money chart is accurate is something we can debate just like the games that seem to never really advance to playable state.

    We can also in the same argument debate how many people are working at the company(s). We hear rumors of people leaving and at the same time we see the hiring side of the website never gets smaller, only bigger.

    The funding chart is only the funded money through direct pledges, things like subs, merchandise and so stated to be excluded from it, any other source of funding they have will be excluded from those numbers, but unless they have one greatly impressive amount of subscribers I highly doubt it'd be enough to change the calculated averaged costs they should have from the "negative" in the face of crowdfunding values.

    The number of employees was last stated as 475 people (feb 2018), the company growth every year and the numbers reported can be verified partially on the financial statements of FQ42 UK.

    I like how you have to bring up how they had to assemble a gaming company from scratch, open all these studios and hire all these people before you actually mention a game. It’s like you know the game is in a piss poor position so you have to try and prop it up.

    And yes anyone could do a better job then Chris Roberts because Chris Roberts has already shown he sucks at running his own game studio and with his new one he is making the same mistakes. At this point (and I’m saying this purely to trigger the fanboys) id trust Derek Smart to make the game better. 
    It's all part of the project, you cant disassociate one from another. CIG went from no company to multiple studios across the world in 5 years rubbing shoulders with the big boys in the AAAA in terms of scope, quality and ambition.

    As for the game being "in a piss poor position" ! LOL that's what every hater says for years without even playing the damn thing. It's doomed ! Dooomed! Total Collapse Imminent ! 90 Day's top since 2015 lol

    Having just released their 2nd successful quarterly update with new features new content and several QoL improvements such as group play and improvements in the performance this alpha already has more game in it than many "finished and released" games lol

    The star feature of this update is definitely Mining alright!
