Not to undermine the other thread or clone the idea it. But, lets see what a more accurate reading looks like with more choices, some may not make sense but may be someones favorite as someone obviously played it at one point somewhere on the internet. The other thread was good for a laugh, but here is hopefully a better one. Though list won't be in any particular order in terms of release dates of the MMOs involved. And of course there are so many MMOs I'm pretty sure I'll hit the poll limit for answers or just miss one entirely. If that happens I'm going to combine sequels together. So it will be overall vote if voted for both games in question.
However looking at the game list on MMORPG.com there are just too many to list so I won't get them all. But ones I either find that people say they missed, or ones I personally played or ones that tend to be popular will be here.
(edit: Since some games blend into the list, do CTRL+F and type the game name. If it was a big release, its likely in there. Then you'll at least see if its actually there or not. Figured the list would be long enough that some games would be easy to miss.)
Or if you don't/can't use the CTRL+F method (such as on a mobile device, which this should work on) you can view the list in alphabetical order and see if your favorite MMORPG is listed here

I'm bound to have missed some big ones and there are a lot of the smaller lesser known ones, but there are so many that the poll would be just one massive list and I don't have all day or night to keep adding games lol. That and I think after too many it be hard to find the MMO to vote for.
But I did do a lot of work to get a lot listed.
Also, at that many choices there was no poll answer limit. Maybe there is one, but I didn't find it.

A much more extensive list, though. Was it worth the 2 hours?
Also, there is an MMO about a bone in your lower leg (Tibia)?

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
That being said, the 2nd favorite is too close to choose from.

City of heroes, Horizons, Matrix Online are all listed, lol
It is an easy mistake to make in such a long list of names, when some game names kinda get blended in a bit.

So this was, by no small means, a very hard choice to make for me, as I loved a lot of the MMO's on this list, many I have played for years on end, and even returned to after some serious burn out.
But, my final decision to take Trove, was based on the fact that, right now, I am building a suspension bridge in my own private club world, because I can. And I was thinking, I have never played an MMO ever that has let me do anything even remotely this awesome, where I can just make whatever I want in my little club world, just a way to enjoy that aspect of the game, and the best part was, I collected all the parts of my bridge, I went out collected the ores to make it all happen.
and as I run though the worlds, I realize that I can make anything in this game, they provide me all the parts and pieces if I want to recreate anything or make something totally of my own design, the game allows me to do this.
On top of that, it's a full MMO, with all the bells, whistles, and features you could want in an MMO.
Just.. literally the world is my sandbox and I can just log in and play.
now excuse me.. I need to go play A Bomber Royal.. where we blow each other up with bombs!
I voted for Vanguard, as it was my second. Next would be VANILLA Dungeon and Dragons, I has a lot of fun when it was completely different as compared to what it is now.
I regret not playing VANILLA Lord of the Rings online. Only played around in Bata.
Interesting results so far (only 22).
Can't wait for more to be filled in and see over all,
Great job in thinking of this
But, I know what you mean. WoW today isn't anything like WoW when it first released.

BTW, I wouldn't give you two cents for the game at anytime during the last three years it is terrible now.

For a solid 6 years, it was pretty much the only game I played. I only had one toon and I saw character development beyond what I thought was possible.
The last two years were extremely difficult and invoked more feelings of sadness than any other video game has for me. The player ran economy shrank, guilds disbanded and good friends disappeared forever. It was truly haunting driving my speeder through the ghost towns that were once thriving cities full of life.
No game has made me feel so invested in its world. There was drama, ups, downs and plenty of laughs. I don’t play video games much anymore, but SWG was an integral part of my life for many years. I only wish I documented my character’s journey.
