This is probably the most well orchestrated scam currently in gaming. I feel bad for you guys falling for this obvious scam that is Star Citizen. Yah I said it...
Well, I feel bad for you too for falling for what random people say on the internet. ;)
I think he is drawing a conclusion, and not making his opinion based on heresy. And to be perfectly honest, it is hard to blame anyone for coming to this conclusion. After all the money and timeline fiascos, it makes people wonder.
That said, I am hoping that the game develops and the backers get everything they want and more. Sometimes, it's nice to dream - so why not dream big? :)
Well, it's based on misinformation and hiperbole. And it's quite frustrating to see such silly "I pity you" posts leveled at you just because you are a backer and are implied blind or a cultist or whatever just to validate those accusations. Just drama-llama meh

They did manage a SQ42 trailer at the end.

Max, don't lose it when you finally figure out its a scam, I care for you.
Its a scam because they are trying to keep the development stage going as long as possible, and that's cheating the backers, Chris gets a fat pay check as long as backers money keeps flowing in.

Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

Dude I wish so much that I believed in this game.  I really do.

Well the good news is that you don't have to believe in it, it's irrelevant to the development of the game which is the only thing that objectively matters.

I mean, on a personal level, it matters a bit to me.  Potential customers still matter, I imagine, unless they've already raised all the money they ever hope to.

I'm not going to lose anything over petty troll posts of hyperbole and no content that live in their own lalaland over what they saw random people say on the internet lol; pitty trolling is low-effort so you're going to have to do better than that.

I watched live stream yesterday. But didn't care enough to stay awake until ending to hear the date. So what Chris Roberts say about the release date?
  • JoeBloberJoeBlober Member RarePosts: 587

They will never finish the game, or if they do then once nobody will care and there will be better ones out there. Fu$k them, hope they lose all their money. "If I pay for my house to be built, and its being built 50 years long, I cant really enjoy it, or do I?"

Yes we know... the old scam story... or even better ponzi scheme shooted by trolls around that predicted collapse for sure 90 days tops§.... 4 years ago.

Facts is that project is making good progress with a roadmap a year ahead. Your last sentence of pure hate say a lot. Cool down man, you want go nowhere IRL with such a bad attitude.

This game will never actually release because it is in their best financial interest to keep things the way they are now. The people that want this game have already paid for it and keeping it in alpha with increased scope keeps the money coming in.
SC is the biggest PC game ever build and probably the definitive PC game, and they are developing it without the help of EA of any game other industry monster. Of course they need money to keep working on it that way.  Alpha 3.4 will be like a early access game, and 4.0 should be a release build.

You have clearly mastered the art of excaggerating, its not the biggest game ever and I don't even know what you mean with definitive. You might mean definitive for the genre, with which I can perhaps agree when playing the finished product. Lets not turn SC into something it is not.

    And yes, I play it.

@OG_Zorvan LOL you talk about Gillian Anderson when actors of far more relevance have promoted it?

She has 677k following. Mark Hamill (3million). And Henry Cavill (6.6million).

Have promoted the game? Oh dear delusion... Only the Henry Cavill plug resulted in half a million people viewing the SQ42 trailer in just a few hours of the post.

Anderson talks about her UK trip on her twitter feed at the moment. A Star Citizen text would not fit into that narrative at the moment, unless she visits Foundry 42 in UK.

She HAS posted about Star Citizen on her twitter feed in the past. I smiled about Gillian "the space squirrel" ;-)

So we have the guy who will plug anything for a buck ( Hammil ), the newbie trying to get as much exposure as he can wherever he can ( Cavill ) who's followers are mostly middle aged housewives, who I'm sure are SC's biggest demographic lol. Whereas we have Anderson who has multiple sources of income and multiple projects always going who doesn't need to promote stuff she really doesn't believe in just for the cash. So yeah, Anderson not promoting it means a whole hell of a lot more than Hammill or Cavill to me.

Actually, he quit as Superman, so not a main face of DC or Marvel, he is to star in the Netflix Witcher show though.

That is very fresh news that WB is bringing back one old Superman, still, the exposure these actors get for playing such roles literally everyone knows is enormous, not 007 huge but still.

One thing I find interesting, is the rumour going round that DC wanted Cavill to cameo in the Shazam movie as Superman, but he refused due to them not paying enough for the cameo.

So I wonder how much Netflix are paying for him to play Geralt, and how much he is getting paid for whatever work he is doing for SC/SQ42

SC is coming along nicely now, I might be tempted to buy-in soon, seeing as it's actually reaching "early access" levels of playability...
