Destiny 2 is on the PC unlike 1 which was not. So I suppose it managed to get a wider audience. I was dying to play this but I need a 120 FOV and no head bobbing to make that work.
It has a rating of 8.5 on this site- this tells alot about quality journalism.
Well, if you read the reviewer's review he liked it. He gave his pros and cons (one of the cons seemed odd but it was what it was). Additionally a lot of other reviewers also liked it.
Or you can look at metacritic for user reviews. Usually there is a war there as far as games that aren't that good with people giving them absolute 0's and those who are trying to counter those. Yet, most of those seem positive.
So perhaps, at least for, a good amount of people, the game works. I even found an article suggesting the updates made the game better and addressed issues.
With all that it seems the review falls in the right area as far as praise vs critique.
Not everything has to be soaked in urine.
Let's not forget FFXV has a rating of 9.0 on this site. User reviews had it hovering between 6-7, which what it likely deserves. My biggest problem with this site is consistency of the reviewer review ratings.
As for destiny, I enjoyed the release, but the first dlc was what made me drop the game.
I play it a lot. Just last night I logged in to do a solo quest or two, ran into multiple rifts, dark anchors, invasions, or whatever this game calls them, looked up and three hours had past, never even got a chance to do those quests. Fighting open world bosses one right after the other along with several mini-bosses with their multitude of minions is great, imo.
