Earlier this year Marvel Strike Force was moving at a breakneck pace, not giving players much chance to even prepare for all the things FoxNext was throwing at them, but the team appeared to heed the feedback from frustrated players and slow things down a bit. I’m not sure what’s going on here, but things look to be speeding up again and I’m already feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Red stars are too soon. The game isn’t even a year old since launch.

I’m fine with the brotherhood release. This seems to be FN’s way of rewarding whales, with the rest of the playerbase getting the new character in the one of the following two runs.

Slots I feel were done wrong from a pr perspective. Bringing slots should have been a slam dunk way of FN gaining positive reactions from players, but it was not. The savy thing to do would have been to introduce the free slots, then about a month later announce additional slots would be available for purchase.

That said, I rather FN make money on QOL changes instead of other features that create a competitive disequilibrium between iap and non iap. This was actually a win for F2P players, but they have been the loudest detesting the move. Would they rather FN offer gold and catalysts at reasonable or cheap prices? FN would make a killing, but it would create a huge advantage for iap over non iap. The current offers benefit whales, but other iap players get a minor boost, but nothing that creates a gulf between them and F2P. Ppl rail against FN’s bad offers, but in reality it makes the game more F2P friendly, which also makes it more whale friendly.

All that said, FN has stated they would provide more info in the future, so I think the Reddit uprising is happening too soon and out of hand aka normal reddit sop. I am interested in finding how the red stars work, how many free slots, and how much purchasable are. If the cost is only 100-250 cores, F2P could reasonably absorb that cost and buy 1 slot every month or two months. Since it takes about 2.5 months for new characters to come out, eventually F2P would have enough slots for all the characters. Conversely, whales and iap will want more immediate gratification and buy cores to purchase slots sooner. So if that is the case (only if) then this would be a win for FN, while not a loss for F2P. We’ll see soon.
