And a customer destroys a gamestop because they can't return the game?

I would say that the customer would've destroyed the gamestop if he was trying to return any game without a receipt.  A functioning stable human being doesn't magically turn into a rage-infused monster because of one game no matter how many issues their are with the game.

I have been playing Bethesda games since daggerfall, I am not suprised this game is buggy. I am really enjoying it though. I hated fallout 4 and loved new vegas which was very buggy too.

FONV, not a Bethesda game. Not liking FO4, totally invalidates your opinion.

You can have fun and like a game and still recognize its flaws. Im sure all of us have played a lot of games that the vast majority would call bad or mediocre. I know I did it a lot.

Even I that was very critic with this game squezeed almost all the time they gave in BETA. At the start its all new and shinny (even tough you soon realize that graphics are old, textures and sets are just those refurbished from FO4 and that it has serious performance issues aka same old game engine) and its actually a blast to be again in FO. For me that lasted about 1 hour and a half. I still kept going trying to find someting that would quench my bitternes. Sadly there was nothing to be found and just left.

QA testers had the same issue as many of us who have played the game. There is something missing. Something that is hard to grasp. Someone wrote that the game has no soul, it sounds lame but it feels somewhat true. Its not about the bugs. Its the game essence.

By the end of my playtime the game felt like a dull multiplayer online shooter rpg. You are running with a dozen quest active. You move to the designated areas. You kill the monsters to get X items/kills there. They respawn (sometimes by the time you kill a group of 5 the 1st one is already spawned). You get some loot. You level. Repeat.

But even then the game feels like it doesnt want to be a morpg. Loot is dull. Combat is dull. Leveling is dull. You level up but dont feel much stronger (I only made it to lvl 13 but when I started I 3 shooted monsters and by lvl 13 I still shooted the same monsters). Items had level caps (I got a missile launcher around lvl 5 and it was caped to lvl20). Crafting was edious (and without many options, half the menus appeared empty).

I dont think nothing they could do at this time will make the game great. As its, broken but lets ignore it, is just a lazy mediocre game. Thing is that if they give it a purpose. Focus on something. Be it loot fest, be it poweleveling scale, be it crafting paradise, be it bullet sponge fest, be it one shoot permadeath, they need to chose.

This game needs a soul. And I hope they have the courage to accept it and alienate a good portion of the player base to make something the rest can really call a good game.

lol how many bounty's do you have on at any given time. most of the people saying this game isn't fun are not happy with the lack of pvp. the grief system is nice, but they really need a way to specify a pvp vs conflict type server. my guess pvp will be down the road and clan wars will be supported.

my only issue is at times there seems to be disconnects, 10mm ammo is lacking, and always having disease and radiation is a pain. but i didn't do beta and am only low level atm.

this game is somewhere between conan exiles and ARK. i think it's on the right track.

They could fix the back-end network security issues, and then start working on a map that is PVP open like regular pvp, and Anti-Cheat to ban cheaters, perhaps let people cheat and inject packets but make anti-cheat server side so the moment a person does they get banned.

The idea would be both PVE, and Conflict zones / maps.

Played with my son last night and kept getting disconnected when we tried to join each others game. Didn't give me a warm fuzzy to jump into a hot area with all the disconnects happening even after we got joined up.

I have played with my two sons and a friend without issue.

The game is also not shallow if you read terminal entries. I swear you remove NPCs and people can't seem to see other content in the game.

    Shrug.

    Egho

People don't seem to be comprehending that in the game, we are playing the first people released into the post-apocalyptic world, there are no NPC's other than robots and the occasional mutant who isn't hostile, because the world got blown up and it makes perfect sense as to why there isn't civilization yet. There will be updates to the game, DLC and expansions, and they will no doubt add NPC's, they've already said new vaults will open up. The lack of human NPC's is almost assuredly temporary.

People are going to look for any reason they can to pick the game apart, and if they don't like it that's obviously fine, but we don't really live in a time where the majority of people critiquing a game or any other media online are providing fair and balanced reviews, it's always one extreme or the other.
First people released into a post-apocalyptic world? So all of humanity that wasn't in one of the other vaults were locked away in 76? Because that would be the ONLY reason there should be no NPC's. I'm pretty sure that goes against Fallout's established lore if that were true. 99% sure it isn't though.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

I wish there were NPC's in the world to liven things up a bit and provide quests, buy, sell, etc.

There's some NPCs out there like Robotron and even a Super Mutant vendor. But the caps they got are low so you're not doing much selling. So the Charisma perks of being a better salesman is 100% meaningless in FO76.

Glad I ignored the noise and gave it a go. I am enjoying it. Needs a lot of work but it's fun, to me at least. 7/10

I also love NMS. I've come to the conclusion that I enjoy games most people hate.

Still having a good time in it.  Staying up too late actually.  I'm too old to be gaming until the wee hours on a work night...

Biggest complaint so far (other than the stupid cardboard disc) is that the CAMP system needs work.  It's always a focus of mine in games like this to build up a base, but the current system needs a lot of help.  It's frustrating to login, have to place your base down again, but be told you can't.  Or have your turrets apparently destroyed, but be unable to replace them because they aren't removed from the housing "budget"...

But those are just nuisances... I'd agree with the 7 rating so far.

At a minimum, I'd suggest dropping down a floor and a bed.  You can freely fast travel back to your camp for no CAPS.  You just can't be overweight.  I have mine near a trader so I can sell off the loot easily.

This is one of the first posts that made me think, hey maybe this really *is* a Fallout game.
Omg, I just started a new playthrough of Fallout 4 myself and yes, 10mm ammo is lacking.  I ended up taking two points in the Scrounger perk, though.  It makes it a little easier to fill enemies with 10mm holes when I get like 20 rounds in random trash cans now. :D

EDIT-  Also, I forgot how brutal the Fallout series is.  V.A.T.S. highlights this with it's slo-mo.  Shooting a raider in the face at point blank with the combat shotgun in V.A.T.S. literally leaves you with a spectacular explosion of blood and gore (including being able to clearly spot the raider's two eyeballs flying into the air).  It was...  Surprisingly gruesome to watch.

But that damn .38 ammo is everywhere. I'm partial to lasers for distance and combat shotguns for close quarters myself. There's lots of both of that ammo everywhere. I only used 10mm for my silenced pistol on special occasions :)

It's for this reason that my first playthrough of any fallout game is by playing a long range sniper character.  In FO76 and FO4 .308 ammo is fairly plentiful, and one good headshot can take down most things. :D

However, when that won't do, in FO 76 the black powder rifle....  I don't think they have it in FO4, but... what an impact, highly recommended.

The Scrounger perk has given me the opportunity to use my combat rifle and 10mm regularly..  I just picked up a combat shotgun, and that has obviously taken over for the role of short-range combat.  It just hits so damn hard.  Shotgun ammo is also fairly plentiful (at least with perks), so I can really go HAM with it and not worry about running out.

I really think Fallout 4 has the best balance of RPG to shooter to complete the entire package of a Fallout game.  It's less of a complete RPG than New Vegas, but the shooter mechanics are at their peak in the franchise.  I like where that balance landed for FO4.

Agreed, for humanoid targets the sniper rifle is extremely powerful.  You can hit targets far enough out to not trigger the [ Danger ] status, which helps keep up sneak attack damage and prevents high-threat targets from firing back.  I use it when I can approach a fortified location from a hilltop or ridge.

Yeah I hadn't touched FO4 for quite a while and firing it up again has really increased my appreciation for it. There are just so many well-crafted side missions in this - anything to do with Nick Valentine up to our "mind meld" was awesome and I'm fully decked out in my Silver Shadow gear dropping my calling card on corpses :)

The only issue I encountered with base building was were to put it so it would be useful while not being the target of hordes of enemies. Right now I have it underneath some large power lines like Abernathy Farms was. I can put my turrets on the pylons.
In my opinion the wall and floor options are better than Fallout 4.
