For those of you who just can't get enough of Blizzard's games, the news that four new books will be published in 2019 should come as a welcomed surprise. Art books for Hearthstone, Diablo and for the cinematic art of World of Warcraft will be released alongside a World of Warcraft pop-up book. All four have a "fall 2019" release window.

Pretty much a hard pass for me. I think I've finally hit the ceiling on tolerance for continuing to milk the old games without anything new or any new innovation. And, yes, I do have a mobile device that has no interest in a Diablo game. :P

Oh you and me both. <3 In so many ways, it makes me so damned sad. I guess that's what "the end of an era" feels like. Depressing.

I, for one, can't wait to level up my new pop-up art book.

    /sarcasm off... for now.

I pretty much feel the same way although I'm prepared to give classic a go for the sake of nostalgia I do feel completely done with live wow at this point.

It's been almost a year now since I cancelled my WoW sub for the first time in over a decade and I have to say it was the best gaming decision I've made in years.

Blizzard states that the proceeds for all book sales will go towards paying for their new CFO.

So that's one of those "multiple unannounced Diablo projects," huh?

I imagine the rest are a card game, a fast food tie-in, and a Diablo branded Mad Dragon dildo. And Blizzard could really use the last one to get fucked.

I like art books, but I have many WoW and Diablo ones already. Not sure there could be enough new here to warrant a purchase from me.

Pretty sure a CE guy like myself is not the intended target for these.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

Basically this is what it looks like when a company who's very name meant quality productions is being dismantled for petty cash flow. Activision just realized they screwed up, have to cut their losses, and before long the name will just be Activision again.

True but most of my books are novels and not pop up books . Don't think I have had a pop up book since I was a very young child .

Been doing that for years. Interestingly enough, their canvas bags are 70$. I wonder if you get real canvas.

you have to really enjoy reading to buy a book.Me i enjoy the idea, the story behind them but i would much rather watch a movie that does the same thing but with real life actors as well adds the visual eye candy that a book cannot do.
Seeing what i did with the Fallout pre order special edition stuff,i notice and figure the same here, mostly people that THINK these are collector's items, something to collect more than to read.

A few months ago, I was pretty psyched about classic. Now, not so much..... Not at all in fact. There is no way Blizzard company can get it right. I realize, there is no way they are just going to put out the old offering. They are going to milk this nostalgia for everything they can. And it will probably suck.

lol Good point . I know what you mean there many of them are far too simplified .

I've been playing Project Gorgon of late because I became fed up with the AAA mmo market. Got one eye on Pantheon too .

For some reason, my reply button is still missing, so I'll do a low budget quote instead:

As someone who reads a book a week I would argue that a book has more visual eye candy. You just need to picture what your reading in your head. Some of the most epic fight scenes I have ever witnessed come from books. Most of the time if a movie based on a book comes out that Movie version of the fight scene is usually worse because they have to scale it down for a movie budget.

    -------------------------------------------------------

I found out only a couple of years ago (I'm 54) that there are some people who are unable to picture the content of a book in their heads. Not that they necessarily lacked smarts, or some bit of imagination (maybe). They simply couldn't produce the mental picture solely from words.

It, frankly, boggled my mind. As a book lover, especially sci-fi and fantasy, I find it a little bit sad too.
