I don't play ESO or WoW and I think the OP is a self entitled moron.
weird take! another day another insult.. Congrats you contributed nothing to the conversation. Was that insult supposed to hurt or something? Just curious on the logic behind it. Actually never mind I literally just figured it out as I typed this. Thanks for coming by, grab a booklet on the way out.

The issue is a bunch of people who play a game, behaving like people who played another game are guests in THEIR game. The other thing is this revisionist take on the ESO community. Everything you're claiming issue with is stuff that was there from launch day just like any other MMORPG. I can't speak on what the environment is like now but yeah... You were in a bar during off-season and are now salty because people who go to bars started showing up and doing what bar patrons normally do.
Saying "WoW players are welcome" in the context you did, is like standing in a national park saying "Sneaker wearers have our blessing to be here".
Lastly, just because a person plays a game exclusively doesn't mean that game is exclusive to them.
If they are only in ESO for the short term they essentially are guests in comparison to the established community that were there before and will remain after.
Extending a civil welcome to those visiting your MMORPG home is hardly an unheard of practice. Requesting them to raise their standard of behaviour while visiting might stretch the bounds of civility to extremely sensitive souls, but it isn't expressed as a demand so doesn't break them.
Asking doesn't hurt. Expecting, a tad optimistic. Demanding would have been improper and merit a lavish display of critique.
But this is a case of civil welcome followed up with a polite request, which I expect is better than members of the much maligned WoW community likely often receives when it travels about. As such, there really isn't much that should be ruffling a lot of feathers here.
Invalid thread, there are trolls and toxic people in every mmo game, it has nothing to do with WoW. Shape up, OP.
When stated with the simplicity of a binary condition, yes every MMORPG has trolls and toxic players. Though undeniably true it is incontestably irrelevant.
It is not the existence of such that varies between MMORPGs, but the degree to which it exists. The issue is shared, but not the severity.
To claim that every game having this issue negates it as an issue is absurd, because the severity of the issue and thus the impact of it varies, making it not the same. The issue is not subject to casual disregard as the parity on this between games you imply does not exist.
It had nicest community so far, thought didnt play ESO like in 1 year now. But at "these times" Mmorpg are having kinda trouble and people keep going to the old ones etc. Looking for something new. Even there is new games around and coming, they arent like the used to be. Hard to explain
ESO is just as bad as WOW, the Op is living in cloud cuckoo land.
The only mmo that I never see this happening is lotro official European rp server.
It even happened on the REAL Lotro RP server, Laurelin. All communities have their trolls. It's inevitable as long as the Internet remains anonymous.
Yup the real official rp server European Laurelin, I never expirenced anything close to WOW or ESO. In fact after years of playing on there I have never had if happen.
I know this is going to sound "ranty" but please leave all that WoW drama in WoW. We usually have a peaceful and mature setting, we would like to keep it that way as much as possible. I'm not saying WoW players aren't welcome, just WoW drama isn't welcome. Last night in zone chat there was literally a never ending debate about WoW Lore which turned into WoW guild drama, which turned into the biggest D measuring contest I've ever seen in ESO.
Don't blame WoW for this problem in itself. It's an industry (not even policing their own turf for decades) AND home discipline problem (teaching their kids public domains there are different rules on behavior, than private domains where they can say and do as they please).
It's also a problem of an age divide in gaming now, too. The first generation Pong users are now in their 50s (I'm one of them). While adults like a more calm atmosphere, the kids live in a different world than we grew up in. They careless about manners or etiquette. That frat house mentality wrecks havoc in ALL public spheres with them now. Be it on Twitter or Facebook or YouTube, so it's beyond gaming, too.
I look back at Totalbiscuit and what demographic he represented -- he was old enough to be my son. He was born when I was already in high school. I didn't approve of his candor, but that is a generational and cultural divide.
Furthermore, trade chat, is mostly dead these days. Blizzard offered OTHER channels to keep the public space more or less free of the trolls (let alone how easy it is to get banned from chatting in public channels itself). Couple of our notorious flamers on Shandris already are on their 3rd strike (after that, they won't be able to chat on ANY public channel in game).
So even in WoW, they're coming down hard on that trash talk on their property.
What gamers people are seeing across the games acting badly are those who aren't invested in A game to begin with. They race to level, play for a month, and run off to another game issue. We see it in WoW, and they're called out on their behavior, too.
Yeah, you dont want those WoW players coming in with their insults and elitism .....thats what we have ESO players for.
I played PC ESO for a couple years and the awful community is one of the main reasons I will NEVER play ESO again.
I cant speak to your personal experience but most people who have played ESO say the same thing about how helpful people are. ESO has one of the best as far as helping others, communities. There are far more helpful people than Elitist. Cant say that for WoW.
From my personal experience the ESO community is far worse than the WoW community.
Trying to do any dungeons at max level was what finally drove me away from ESO for good. After getting kicked from almost all of the groups because I didnt know the dungeon, or was trying to play a tank or wasnt animation cancelling I can most definitely say that the ESO community is far from helpful.
I play on 6 different servers in WoW and have run into many helpful people and very little elitism. When was the last time you played WoW? Have you ever played WoW?
THAT is RARE in WoW. Elitism exists. Raid.io tells folks by how much. The infighting between "HARDCORE and "Casual" more so.
So maybe you just run with your guildies and don't see how it is trying and using LFG and LFR and Premades (with Raid.io -- the new "official" GearScore addon that makes public raiding almost impossible, too ... Blizzard is funneling people to BUY their runs and not with nice people [the Paypal route at $40 to $100 a run nonsense] by an addon like that).

some are into lolis(majority of eastern mmorpgs), some are into cat girls (ffxiv). some are into blood elves (wow).
and some appear to be into spaceships(EVE).
pick your poison.
But honestly on a more serious note. People praise FFXIV a lot for its so called "community" but it's fine if you're always with and interact with guildies and friends (same for any game for the most part).
The issues always occur the moment you are attempting content that involves players you don't particularly know. Be it raids or random dungeons. It doesn't really matter the game or where people come from.
I think it's a bit unfair to the genuinely fine players that MMO hop that they're being lumped in with the bads. (especially when the game you're playing WILL have the people you're complaining about, even if you have not personally interacted with them yourself).

Where the problem/solution is, is to have certain guilds/corps/clans made for new and returnees AND generational ones too -- then advertise the mess out of them.
I can't relate to the kids, and they wouldn't relate to me as what is "proper" mores. Each generation has their own idea of what is "acceptable", but it's not across the board ... in any game.
If developers would do that (making instant communities from the start), a lot of the MMO friction people see can diminish. Games are like RL city communities. Retirees live in one area; college kids in another; and families elsewhere. When they mix annoyances arise. Throw them all into a great "melting pot".........
