Final Fantasy XIV players learned that a new crossover event is planned to bring Noctis from Final Fantasy XV into the game. The event is likely to come in April and will see Noctis come into the world with the iconic vehicle from FFXV, the Regalia. He will join the Warrior of Light "in battle against magitek infantry, magitek armor and even the Messenger, Garuda, hailing from Eos".

Coming mid april with a "regalia" 4 player mount, with you prob get after a quest chain and most likely when the event is over it comes in the shop.
I don't understand or appreciate (apparently) crossovers. I mean...a car in a fantasy MMO? OK whatever
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I imagine you would understand or appreciate if you played the game. Its quite a hi-tech fantasy game with a blend of magic and technology. It has air ships. Trains, boats, bikes, tanks, war machines... not sure why a car would be strange >.<
Have you ever played the game? I mean half the story is about corrupted technology. There have been entire games based on sky pirates.
This a mech mount I had in the first year the game launched. I don't see a car being that far out of the game.
I wasn't actually trying to be insulting, it's just that all of these crossovers in lots of games seem odd to me and don't do anything to increase my interest or enjoyment of a given game. That said, I get that some people love it and I say "Huzzah!" More power to 'em.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Till it's from the same franchise and not from something else, fine by me. Not that I play the game any more.
Cross-overs seems to be the direction Yoshida's decided to take FFXIV.
Back when they announced the first couple, I posted concern that they would get carried away with it and turn XIV into a cross-marketing platform. I was told I was paranoid and/or trolling, unreasonable. Was told it would only be FF and since it's all the same universe, it's fine (unless you mention FFXI of course, because XI is Satan, apparently).
So far we've had FFXIII, Monster Hunter, FFXI, Dragon Quest, FFXII/Tactics.. maybe some I'm forgetting. Now there's a Nier Automata dungeon coming, and a FFXV cross-over.
FFXIV has basically become a cross-marketing platform.
So much for me being "paranoid" or "trolling", or "unreasonable". Of course, I'm sure those who called me those things back then have already pivoted and will now defend it as an obvious, brilliant move. Because Yoshida can do no wrong in their eyes.
What a disappointment FFXIV turned out to be. Twice.
No you're just a bitter cynic with nothing but vitriol to add.
And Yo-kai watch too
Not until FFXVI
But that is just my opinion.
This isn't a signature, you just think it is.
To stick with the topic and speak only of FFXIV, it is one (from my experience and opinion) of the best for crafting, story, music and RP. There is a lot of good and great stuff as well, but it's a huge statement to say anything is "the best" as is. It could be said that it is the premiere MMO if you're a Final Fantasy or Square Enix Fan. People have their own opinions and likes, of course, though constant growth and preparation for future growth cannot be denied.
As well as their budget increasing dramatically over time with Heavensward and Stormblood respectively. To add a bit of a caveat, we haven't heard if they did so with Shadowbringers yet... though the popular word of mouth in the past is that they doubled ARR's budget for Heavensward and tripled it for Stormblood. With these numbers being from Japanese finance reports that have yet to be translated and confirmed by the English community. Though much of what is about to be presented in the following paragraph must have cost a pretty penny in of itself.

They have increased server counts several times, relocated data servers for growth and are now almost doubling the amount of data servers available as well as adding more servers for Europe. The "Preferred Servers" -- supposed low population servers, are brimming with players all throughout the starting 1-50 areas (most likely due to the benefits of choosing those servers) and it's almost impossible not to get into a leveling roulette with two to three players with the new player "leaf" that denotes who is new to the game.

In a recent interview with players -- where Yoshi-P tends to just log into the game and people gather around him to ask questions on the spot -- he even mentioned that the game is doing so well economically that he'd be yelled at by his bosses if he even thought of a future without it.

Last question: "Yes. Thanks to everyones' support, we're in a situation (economically) where the company would actually be against us if we said we wanted to end the game now. I think my lifespan will end before FFXIV lol. So, please don't worry about the game ending anytime soon and continue to enjoy this game!"
To put bluntly, this is perhaps the most successful game they've ever had. With the largest player base they've ever seen. With the best retention they've ever known. It will only grow larger starting the 4th when all Twitch Prime members get a copy of the game for free.

To claim this game in general is a failure or bad (or going down the wrong path) is a horrid and ignorant case of cynicism and not conducive to what is reality. But perfectly fine if it doesn't fit personal tastes and is noted as such.
To add to this, the reward is a mount that has a completely unique model in game. That is given for doing the event. It's a far cry from a certain other game that only allows unique mounts to be bought. FFXIV oft gives 2-3 unique mounts away a year for essentially just playing the game. It has its own bought mounts -- though quite a few of those were originally a part of a past event -- as well, but it mixes those in with these types of things. In addition to expansions giving unique mounts for just doing the main story. The animations are great as well.
There is so much replayability (on top of an already 130+ hour game) between using different personas, bonding with different friends (each of whom have tangible gameplay benefits), and a new game+ mode that makes the life simulation aspects of your second playthrough much quicker/easier.
Oh, and that soundtrack, art style, and UI are worthy of praise by themselves.
