I found an article published today regarding massive layoffs coming to Activision / Blizzard? I feel for all those spending the weekend wondering if they will have a job next week. This is a pretty crappy thing to do.

I have to say that usually comicbook.com's information has not been false, so now I just need to ask why this is getting to the public BEFORE the layoffs have happened.
Very unprofessional

It seems they will be making layoffs on the same day as Q4 2018 Results Conference Call, which suggests worse than expected financial results. Looks like they need to make some action to regain some of the investors confidence.
As for Blizzard not announcing it officially yet, I would guess that it takes some time for legal work to be done between the decision is made and the layoffs are announced, especially if we are talking about large amount of people from different parts of company. In this situation I find person that leaked it to the press more "unprofessional" than the company itself. For all we know the people who are getting fired, might be already informed and were just asked to not to talk about it until Tuesday.
