I've been in games where people have had tremendous head starts because of bugs that had since been fixed. I'm experiencing this in an alpha released game right now where the mobs often don't attack so I can farm 'em. Also, this is important in games that feature land grabs (housing). Some stuff gets locked up early and you'll never see it available again for the duration of the title.
Not sure why anyone would spend time or money on a title like that, but to each their own.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
Complaining about bugs is complaining just for the sake of complaining.
...bugs are a non-factor in online environment.
Curious position which many don't seem to share.
I was one such but then I played FO76 at launch and either because I love Fallout I've come to better understand your point, the bugs weren't nearly as aggravating nor deterred me from enjoying it.

I dont most of the time , maybe am lucky i rarely fall on a game that broken or filled with bugs in the end i dont follow the pack or follow streamers that play the lastest FOTM
1. Boredom 2. I play with a group of friends. It's easier to get everyone involved when a game is releasing than it is 6 months later when the hoopla has died down.
May not make sense, but those are my reasons.
1. I'm never bored.
2. None of my gaming associates are early adopters. Just this weekend we took plunge and decided to play Paths of Exile together, first time trying it for all of us.
One of them even bought FO76 to hang ouwith me, total surprise.

Weird
That's the thing, they really aren't "that" big a deal.
So, per your example, they weren't that aggravating yet forums and you tube and "wherever" seems to be going nuts over them.
I suspect it's less about the bugs and more about not getting a game that some people wanted therefore every little thing is going to send them over the edge.
I've never played a game where bugs or issues caused me to lose it. I've been disappointed, I've been inconvenienced, but as Gdemamni said, they are just part of the package.

Any way, what are your reasons for jumping into new games as they release. I understand it, if it was like 10 years prior, but today . . . not so sure.
To take advantage of bugs.

Truth!
Take advantage of all the xp/credits/loot bugs you found in beta before they fix them and miss out.

LOL, no, we will be joining the new league in softcore mode, but thanks for the kind offer.

Yeah, I stopped buying games at launch years ago. And the last game I did and changed how I bought games was Rebel Galaxy. The devs promised great keyboard and mouse controls and they sucked really badly. All the beta streams were done using a gamepad. So they lied about it.

I think it's a clear indication of the poor state of new MMO's. People would literally pay to play a MMO during pre-alpha or log into a 15 year old MMO than log into any one of the many free MMO's already released or MMOs they already paid for. New MMO's are just too shallow to hold on to anyone for any length of time.
You may be on to something here.
Personally, I'm just screwing off until Anarchy Online Fresh Server opens and SWGEmu to get finished. I have no interest in games coming out in the next few years. Bored with current games. AO and SWG were the only games that could keep me around for years, not weeks, not months, but years.
For some people, they're looking forward to Classic WoW server. There's been interest in EQ again, maybe due to Pantheon or just curiosity.
Something is happening. It may be niche, but what game isn't? Exclude the millions of casual content locust, and a lot of games are left "niche" after they move on within weeks after launch.

Awww, you make me want to play softcore just to play with you and your friends . . . too bad i can only play from like 10pm to 1 AM california time. Since, you're in FL (and an old geezer), you'll be sound asleep by then.

These days, I only purchase a handful of games every year. The very few games that I do buy at release, I have not been disappointed with. When I'm on the fence, I'll take a wait and see approach, I also have realistic expectations when it comes to games.
