Seeing this makes me immediately want age restrictions on MMO's, for the safety of young children, and hopefully parents are vigilant in making decisions about subjecting their children to atmospheres like this, you wouldnt let your 5 year old run around disney world unsupervised for reasons all im saying!

If you haven't yet looked into the parental controls, you are doing yourself a disservice and promoting false information. This is one company that's actually doing it right with a suite of controls for parents to, among other things, limit chat options from zero to fully open.

The game is also 100% in compliance with COPPA - https://searchcrm.techtarget.com/definition/COPPA

In addition, they maintain a 24/7 chat monitoring staff to keep an eye on all communication between players if it is not filtered.

Lastly, parents should be monitoring all online activities of their children just as they would escort them around Disneyland.

That's a really great idea. Kinda like the sims go to the museum. Beats starting a kid off in gaming on Lineage 2 like someone once did. I hope they do well.

im just saying what ever happened to mathblasters, oregon trail, you know things that pique the mind as well as teach it, this will have tragedy, people dont need a chatbox to communicate, look at the people that would spell things with corpses in WoW. And if they arent going to have chat options whats the point of this?

You're advocating for taking away another avenue of learning from children because a select few people will try and abuse the chat features.  

Children are exposed to all kinds of nonsense in public situations.  Especially school.

They HAVE chat options. Parents can limit chat to "canned" responses only, full chat option or NO CHAT AT ALL. Honestly, you're being purposely obtuse.

As @moshra said, there are probably a lot more threatening situations at any given school than there are here if parents take advantage of the tools available in the game AND monitor their child's activity.

its unwise =( and the only reason for someone to do this and be for it is to exploit families for monetary gains by ignoring the vulnerability you are putting them in, hey if you want to be for this thats great, i just stated my opinion, dont jump down my throat! I just think there should be a minimum age limit is all, I mean having kids under 10 seems risky to me.

Maybe they will have a section in the game explaining the function of a public forum.

You expressed your opinion, people who opposed your opinion expressed theirs.  Nobody is jumping down your throat.

I sometimes think: where was something like that in my childhood? Kids in our century are lucky, they have a lot of opportunities.

My son is not taking to this one unfortunately. He loves ABCMouse (for the content) and Wizard 101 (for the 3d walking). Adventure Academy is a bit more unintuitive for the mobility and seems less engaging (for him so far). I did sub for the year based on his love for ABCMouse but I just can't get him to want to play it yet. I love their take on things but the movement is like bad mmo design. It takes a really long time to walk anywhere and the design of selecting/starting a game is not user friendly (for him). My kiddo is older and has autism so he is probably not the average user though.

And yes the parental controls are wonderful. I have not found the parental controls to be lacking in any of the games he plays.

Got both my daughters to play tonight. One on my PC and the other one played on a tablet. They enjoyed it alot more then I was expecting. I'm pretty happy that the learning part is engaging. My kids are both pretty smart already but I think it has alot to offer as a supplement. They got to level 4 and did a good amount of lessons before it was time for bed. So far I liked what I saw and we will see if they continue to enjoy it.

Remember children......if somewon is being Rude in a game / Block is your friend

Blocking people is a good lesson to teach your children Hopefully all games will have a Block feature
Or maybe they can add a Feature for Parents to turn off Chat options also just so people like Riggy82 can stop being soo scared

I often wonder if kids like anything or just force fed by their parents to like certain ideals/games.
I just do not like the idea of trying to reinforce kids hanging out playing video games.Get them out of the house,dance,music,sports,jogging,swimming tons of stuff.

Also not a fan of the "sell job"oh look buy our game,it is educational for your kids.Point being,they have all day in school,time for parents to spend with their kids helping with homework,that is 75% of their  day,use the other 25% to do something useful to grow your child and NOT video games.

Back in the Early 90's we had TONS of Edutainment on the PC  (Educational Entertainment)

im Sure i must have learned something playing those Math blaster games  

No one said anything about spending 12 hours a day playing this game

I installed this for my kid. Before handing it to her, however, I rolled a quick test character to see if the game indeed has any educational value.

I was very pleasantly surprised just how much high quality content the game already has.

Kudos to the devs. Here, take my money.
