I think the problem with ESO is that they seem to be lacking surprises. It's all GOOD content, but I'd like to try and see them get a little more experimental and creative with systems and the like to make an already content-rich game, even more layered.

I agree, Bill! Why does it seem like the creative-types are always held back when we need them most?!

They've show before that they can really change things up and turn things around, so hopefully they can do it again!

I like ESO as a whole, and I'll continue to stay PAWsitive.

    That was your fault, Bill....

Great expansion but my critiques remain. In their huge open world a lvl 1 is the same as a level 50, if not even higher. Because every character at any level is auto twinked to equality. But it gets even worse: If you have a high level champion (any character above level 50) every new character created on the same account inherits ALL the champion points at level 1 and that champion level is hidden. I saw a level 10 and 20 out dueling and destroying Champion point 300,400 and even 500 characters. At least Zenimax could put the toon's champion level in parenthesis or something?

Same as a level cp160. Still means that for c. 80%+ of your characters journey you are totally unboosted.

And yes once you get a character to cp160 all characters that have gotten to level 50 get the same cp points.

ZoS could change it of course so that every character has to grind cp points but I don't think that would be popular - it takes a while.

As it is there are folks who would also like to inherit skill points, shards and everything else. They would be even more unhappy.

I reckon its a decent compromise.

Love it for the open world, hate it for it feeling like an endless tutorial due to level scaling. If I play it like an Elder Scrolls and ignore everyone and imagine any player as an NPC, I have an ok time. If I play it like an MMO I'm incredibly disappointed.
People grumbled and wanted to go anywhere. So they introduced level scaling. And the vast majority are happy. So ...

Remember though that level scaling stops at 160. Hundreds and hundreds of cps after that.

I do agree that you can play ESO as a "non-mmo". That said the realm PvP is also great fun and there are a plethora of dungeons to do in groups.

I disagree. Because of those surprises, I'm not playing WoW or GW2 anymore. These are not the games that I fell in love and played for all those years. Even tho I tried again and again I just can't enjoy playing them at this point.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Imo this is why games like the two I mentioned are dying while FFXIV and ESO are getting better and better. Because they are not changing their formula too much and continue to build on top of what they had in their cores.

I'm having a blast with this expansion. I love the necromancer class. I will try to create a healer build and if all goes well I'll probably make her my main instead of my templar. I don't know why people here are complaining about this class. There are already 2 pet based classes in Eso. Why do you want another class which uses permanent pets is beyond me.

The only complain I have right now is about open world Dragon events. They are too frequent and easy to do. I don't know, maybe it's because they are new and there are too many people doing these events which makes it easier to zerg them but it is not what I was expecting at this moment.

I have a suspicion that you don't understand how ESO's combat works. You seem to believe that "kids" can simply run around casting endless macros ....

Btw you do realise that Global Cooldown = animation cancelling?  Which means just about every game out there has animation cancelling.

I played ESO at the start when it was new and it was great for a change from wow and other mmorpgs. Then i got to lvl 50 and endet up chasing these shards and power leveled up my cp and some crafting skills halfway until i was bored and quit.

Then i came back with the Morrow wind exp.I found a guide from Alcast who reminds me of a mad scientist. Everytime i tryed to follow his guides then he somehow changed em or made a new video of it. But i managed to max all my craft skills and i went in several dungeons to find the BIS gear. Then i enchanted my gear so it became yellow " that is the epic gear colour" There is common, blue, purple and yellow. After all that then i quit again for a period.

Now it was time to try out this "summerset" exp and i found out there was a hard solo dungeon/instance called trials and it was a pain in the ... because it was realy depending on your gear and skill or basicly everything setup. You had to clear this instance solo on the hard mode to get that yellow random weapon drop and pray to RNG that you got that staff ! One wrong move and you died..so i quit again..yes im a quiter.

Now i dont know if i should blow my head off and buy the Elsewhere exp. Allready this game has cost me around 60-75 Eu in total. I dident buy any DLC but i bought the VIP eso for 2 month before i quit.

The game isent bad. But just extreme boring in the end when you have done what there is to be done. You can ofc challenge ur self with that trial but i gave up. Or you can do ALL the story line quest and side quest if you like that kind of lonlyness in games. But then you might aswell play Oblivion. Or you can camp some of the world bosses and grind some gold on the epic loot that other wants to pay you good for.

The system about same cp on every new toon is stupid if you ask me.

I also wish there was more to this game like Billyboy in here said.

    Banana peel out :p

I am LOVING my new Necromancer; this toon is my most fun so far! Got her to level 10 and I am healing dungeons and PvP. This class is weird because one class skill can help another class skill using the passives and stuff... is that correct or is it just me? Anyway, the burning skeleton thing is a blast and Throwing Necro Skulls is WAY more fun than Warden Diving Birds! Skeletons, Spirit Menders and Dead Stuff, oh my!

    BillyBoy here is right !

Its like peeling a banana and then there is no meat under the peel but hey ! at least you have banana peel now :D ( you can throw in on the ground and hope one will fall :p ) That is what ESO is

As said above: add change, upon change upon change and suddenly you have - we want vanilla.

    Its a tough line.

As said above: add more of the same, upon more of the same upon more of the same and suddenly you have - we want change.

You can make changes and keep the core the same but to do nothing is stagnation.

As I said: its a tough line.

As it stands - within the established systems - they have been adding content covering classes, more fleshed out races, key happenings and geographical locations - based on the ES lore.

Is there much more to add? Probably enough to keep them going for a little while. And I suspect they could also revisit and add more to the likes of e.g. Dark Brotherhood as well.

New systems though? I don't disagree that stagnation is a possibility but:

    - memories of ESO, when it launched, not being "Elder Scrolls-ey enough" Skyrim / Oblivion / Morrowind / Daggerfall etc.
    - a new ES game will probably get first refusal on really new ideas
    - lots of "Skyrim" customers to target with the current game
    - sticking to the current formula carries the least risk, tough market out there

So as much as I too would like to think that there is some fairy dust that they can create I will just enjoy ESO when I play it and expect it to function as it has since One Tamriel. And if they have pulled a rabbit out of the hat then that will be icing.

You can spam the same 5 boring skills from the lame classes like a trained monkey in a whole new expansion! Now with dragons!

    ESO is so boring.

It's true, it did... But it made the World Bosses absolutely brutal because you can't out level them anymore.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

They already announced two years ago that they'd be on the same DLC structure every year, so, yes, it will be Q4 for the next batch of story content that adds a new zone such as Murkmire, Clockwork City, etc... Q1 is Dungeon DLC, Q2 is a Chapter, Q3 is Dungeon DLC, Q4 is story DLC.

Totally agree. ESO used to be my goto MMO, but for the past six months or so, when I log in, I log out a minute later because I feel like I've done everything already - the sameyness of the zones and quests is overwhelming deja vu, imo. I really want to get the latest expansion, but I'm afraid if I do, I'll play for five to ten minutes and get bored. I hate being bored with ESO, but I can't help it, now.

I make spreadsheets at work - I don't want to make them for the games I play.

    I believe so.

They start you in the new place (usually the latest expansion) but you can choose to travel to other starting areas.

    Khenarthi's Roost

    Stros M'Kai

    Bleakrock Isle

These should be the starting areas.

    Honestly,

ESO isn't worth buying.  I bought the game a month ago and got max level, fully-built with yellow top tier gear from trials and 400 champion level.  First off, the combat is pretty eh.  The trials (raids are 12 man) and are once again not that complicated.  Regular groups are 4 people which kind of sucks cause I played with 6 and we always felt unable to play content together.

The BUGS in-game are horrendous.  I've made ticket after ticket and the support literally closes the tickets and tells me to go post in the bug forums.  I've had 3 posts in the bug forums about issues which are replicated by MANY and no response from Zenimax staff.  Not to mention the forums are over-crowded with ESO Fan Boys who tell you bugs aren't a big deal.  There doesn't appear to be any professional support system for the game at all ... which is scary ... as it has quite the price tag.

The PvP is honestly terrible.  Battlegrounds are just people mindlessly running around mashing button and the time-to-kill (how quickly you can kill someone) is very very quick.  I could one shot many folks, and I did repeatedly.  I also got one shot repeatedly myself, so if you are looking for a skill based game... this isn't it sadly.

Finally, I did the open world PvP (non-champion level) with a very nice build.  I had capped resists and impen on every piece of my armor.  I was sitting at 33K resists in combat and guess what? You still get one shot.  You have no time to react, even when dodging, or blocking.  You will see someone... and either you instantly kill them or they instantly kill you.  Everyone builds pure DPS.  Being a healer in PvP just ain't a thing, or a tank.

Just take my advice... if you wanna PvP don't buy this game.  If you like really difficult PvE content... it may keep your attention for a month or two.  That's about it.  It's not Dark Ages of Camelot and its not Everquest by any means.

The Elsweyr expansion had a cool starting area... but its almost a joke.  The entire expansion area is super small.  When you open your map by pressing "M" you will see a dragon that flys around that people can kill.  When it dies... guess what... the same dragon spawns and flys around again... so you can kill it... again ... and again... and that is it.  There is like 5 new sets of armor which are pretty basic.  It's a joke really I am super disappointed in the entire game.  My personal opinion is the developers are milking it for money at this point.  I think its a game suited more for young kids, 10-15 age range.

    Best of luck.
