It's great if you love WoW clones. With more restrictive content gates. Zero character customization, zero horizontal progression, same formulaic release of content patch after patch.
Maybe that's what you're into, but it bores me to tears.

You’re given a beautiful game with great graphic fidelity,
Er, what?
Maybe if this was 2010; but the game is well dated visually and has been for many years.
Sure it's not as bad as SWTOR, and only slightly better than GW2, but it's got nothing on something like BDO (granted most games don't).
In a fit of irony, the original 2010 version (dubbed "1.0") had higher graphical fidelity than the game currently does in 2019. And Shadowbringers isn't bringing a single graphical upgrade whatsoever. Despite dropping 32bit/DX9/PS3.
There's mods that improve the fidelity of the game, but that only gets you so far. The textures of most everything are garbage (especially ARR era stuff, circa 2002), and mods don't fix those, so you still suffer regardless.
It's the one thing I hoped would finally be improving, but no. It's not content, so SE doesn't spend money on it. Hell they barely even bother with QoL features and never touch old content.
The problems the game has are all developer oriented, and could be fixed/improved if they cared; but they don't and may never.
I left after ARR. Looking at the preorder for Shadowbringers, it says:
"also includes FINAL FANTASY® XIV: HEAVENSWARD & FINAL FANTASY® XIV: STORMBLOOD, which will be provided at release on July 2, 2019"
Am I reading this correctly, that I wouldn't be able to start catching up on the other 2 xpacs until 7/2, limited to just the ARR content I already own until then?
Any good guides out there to refresh people's memories on how to play/all of the systems so I don't have to start back over and go through a new toon to reteach myself all of the stuff from the tutorials?
Ditto for a recap video or something for the ARR storyline?

You should have instant access to the expansions. Allowing you to progress as you please.
It will take time, however, as the MSQ content isn't short in the least between ARR and Stormblood.
Sweet, Ty! I was a bit worried how lost I'd be trying to jump back in after a couple/few years at this point. This is good stuff!
Glad to hear I won't have to wait for the other xpacs. I'm not too worried about how long it'll take to get through the MSQs, planning to smell the roses, but was worried I'd buy the preorder and just be sitting there until 7/2. lol

Confirmed the hard way. Bought the Shadowbringers preorder. It let me register the code for the early access items, but it doesn't even give you a code to register the xpac, and as a result, you can't unlock Heavensward or Stormblood in the meantime. You have to wait, which is exactly what I was afraid of.
Confirmed here after ~30m of trying to figure out why the heck i couldn't register/access the other 2 xpacs

Lol bringing up BDO. Yes its a very visually stunning game but those graphics have at least 2 problems: 1) pop-in is so freaking ridiculous because of what they did to achieve said graphic quality and 2) when you have more than 20 people on the screen fighting it runs like garbage regardless of how godly of a rig you might have. So compared to 90% of the competition out there, FFXIV is a visual god-send.
Unfortunately, this game is plagued by so many other things.
As for being a brand new player, the problem is that people think too much. Out of all the things there are to do in the game, you really only end up doing 3 things by the time you hit cap, with the rest of the stuff just being completely irrelevant or glamour. Even gearing wont matter once early access starts because the current tomestone gear will be moved over to poetics, which are uncapped, so you can get all the capped tomestone gear for 70 that way. Even if you didn't get a single piece of gear after hitting 70 by the time you are at shadowbringers, quests always give you gear relative to the ilvl of uncapped tomestone gear before the patch and slowly go up as you level.
Now as a brand new player, my tip would be if you need the gear for the one you are currently progressing to cap as, use that gear if you have to, but sell literally every other piece of gear because people will usually buy it for levequests/gc turn ins for crafting. Honestly that tip can apply across all expansions as you level through them, just do dungeons to gear and you'll make a few million gil that way easy.
The main thing is just dont overthink games like this/wow/eso etc because they are honestly not as in-depth as you think for a multitude of overall reasons, like patch invalidation and progression being an illusion entirely in some games.
My main struggle and probably only problem with the game is how SE tied the main questline to dungeons and primal boss fights. When i hit a level bracket where not enough people are running that dungeon/primal i literally cannot advance the game so i have to quit, and i am not fond of wasting my money on subscriptions if i literally cannot progress in the game.

I know many people say this but for a tank / healer it is almost instant queue and longest I have ever waited as dps is 15ish minutes for the DF to pop. Are you playing during off hours?
I haven't played in a while actually, waiting on the new expansion to go back to it. But to answer your question, i tried at all times, mornings, afternoon, evening, early AM. I remember wasting almost a whole month of sub waiting hours in queue to kill Garuda lol. As for the tank/healer short queues, i play a Bard so it's DPS. Not a big fan of tanking and healing.

Try to find a nice fc, ask can someone help me with... and they will.
I think ita easyer now to find groups for ms dungeons/trails.

Agreed, 1.0 was the better game, flaws and all. There was so much more potential in that system and it was so much more interesting than the literal WoW clone it turned into.

Fallout 76 has potential Anthem has potential Archeage had potential Bless had potential Lots and lots of broken and unfinished games had potential.
Potential is nice, but unless it becomes realised potential, it remains wasted potential.

Funnily enough, I bumped into a thread on reddit created today, with the title "A reminder of how bad 1.0 was". Enjoy:

Nightmare!!!
This is why I quit playing it. There were too many game breaks during my movie.
