Seems fine to me, have male/female. But once you start pandering to one subject you'll have to do it to them all. I.e. next someone will complain that the characters are white.

As mentioned,it seems meaningless and to me it still is a meaningless part of the game.
I am just going to wait and see if there is much game here or just same old been there done that with a lot of pre hype.

When I first read it I had to put on a tinfoil hat to make sense of it.

Its more about the current state of universities/colleges in the States and the UK, kind of sad really, but its where this stems from. Its great that CDPR are not pandering to the far left, but i hazard there will be a price to pay, particularly from the media.

It would have been a discussion four years ago, indeed ten years ago, but "something about gender" would not have given you as automatic a pass for a news item as it does today. I see no signs we have yet reached "peak gender" in main stream and social media. That's world wide to my knowledge so not sure your man Donald is as influential as you think.

I don't know why anybody would be bent out of shape one iota. They have had alt covers for tons of games over the years, including Mass Effect 3 almost 8 years ago.

Let's not forget alt covers for comics. Alt posters for movies. A variety of commercials for TV shows with different genders, races, etc. Why this would cause any sort of kerfuffle is utterly beyond me.

I think it's cool.

There have always been a hint of politics in certain genres of games but it was fantasy enough to not have to be a direct correlation. Sadly Things are so retarded now(yes I said it and its fitting) that no matter what is put in, if its remotely political it will have an extreme view from one group and then an extreme view from another.

Maybe they can make a cover that doesn't have the protagonist on it at all but just a pic of the city.

To only have 2 genders as a choice is actually a middle finger to the PC gender war people. Other artists have been attacked through social media for even mentioning such a thing. I do not see an issue with this unless the game itself is clearly influenced by PC culture against it's artistic purpose.

How can you not get it when you just finished doing a coles notes of why it's this way? 

I'll just add that there are some who want it just that way for politics, profit and fun.

I guess why is the wrong question but more how it got so bad. I know their was always bickering from both sides but nothing like it is today. Again don't want to get to much into politics. I was just making a point that a conversation like this wouldn't happen a five years ago. I mean I don't remember reading an article about people being upset with Bioware and demanding a reversible cover for both male and female characters  for Mass Effect 3.

It may seem worse because of the constant social media bombardment but it's as old as the hills.

It's deliberately instigated divisive issues to keep all the have nots too busy fighting against each other to notice that they are all getting equally shafted by the haves. Religion, race, gender... the wealthy, powerful and privileged don't give much of a shit about any of that. They just love that it keeps us busy bickering.
