I’ve played this since CB1 and since I launched.

I guess what im sying here is, this is that type of game that do not try to catch the mainstream, it’s a niche game for the people who like the old style of gaming – like UO, and if you liked UO then this come close and offers so much more.
That's interesting because it directly contradicts what they've just said about their game and how they want it to have broad appeal. Player perception of what they think a game is and should be and what the devs think are completely different.

They are hoping to make their niche of appeal relatively more broad by appealing more to PvE focused players in the hope that population gained will be greater than the PvP focused population lost due to the changes. I highly doubt that by broad they mean massive.
People have argued that MMORPGs have changed and that no consent PvP is the way to go now. They seem to differ on this development. Wonder if it based on feedback or actual study of the market. I am very curious as to why they made these changes especially since they had totally different goals initially.

People argue all kinds of things. What is perhaps more telling is what people do. I don't think it would take long for any examination of MMORPGs to show that games where PvP is largely elective have a greater population overall than games where PvP has little if any limits.

According to a article on the LoA site, this is their second change in focus.

It is said that in the shift from Shards Online to LoA that they moved away from their original intent in an effort to bring back open PvP in a full loot sandbox environment.

They then go on to say that upon reflection they have come to realize what worked in the days of the Ultima Online could no longer today, as the landscape has changed. No details of the landscape change were directly provided.

It is mentioned that they received a great deal of feedback from thousands of their backers from Kickstarter onward expressing a desire to play without being "somebody else's food", and many of the changes made seem to address that concern.

So, basically it looks like it was at least partly due to player request, and they also appear to allude that this is a shift back toward their original intent in Shards Online rather than a change in direction entirely out of the blue.

I was told the Devs full expect this game to flop and have already started selling off assets in preparation for a new game. If I'm not mistaken, they've even informed community server owners not to expect any further support after release. Though, the fact it's in Early Access, I guess that probably means when it exists EA? Still, depending on community mods, I don't see that being an issue.
Err, you have a link or source for this?

That is quite the claim and the burden is on you to prove it. So please provide evidence as this will have a serious impact on potential buyers if true.

I believe they will allow for custom servers and one of those servers is like Ultima Online. I played it in alpha/beta and it felt a lot like UO

It will be closed by this time next year.

Their only hope of staying alive is the insanely low cost to operate a game made with 90's tech.

The forums on Steam are under heavy moderation. Someone made a thread asking what they are supposed to do because there is no guidance for quests or anything and they are lost, deleted.
