Hi all,
I have not bought an EA game years. For the most part they just seemed like they were micro transactioning everything to death. I see that the the basic version of Origin is $30 for the year. I was thinking that I might like to try Madden and some of the FPS that they have, Battlefront 1&2 (I know it is old but it might be ok) maybe Anthem. I don't really care about the early access.
From what I can tell the only real difference between premier and basic is the early access. Is there are differences between the two outside of early access, that I am missing in the fine print?
For people who have basic, do you find it worth while?
Thanks in advance.
“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

I've had basic for a couple of years and never felt much of need to upgrade.

I would probably guess if you are interested in the new Madden, you would probably need premium, as the big new titles require that.
There's probably more, I just haven't played them.

For those of you that don't know MUT stands for my ultimate team. You buy virtual packs of "football cards" and those players on the cards get added to your team that you play with online. Hence everyone is constantly chasing the best players and legends
Im a offline franchise mental masturbater so the online portion means nothing to me but , dam, They are making a absurd amount of money with this MUT Pack hustle. EA is worse then the MOB.
Aloha Mr Hand !
And it's worse than you think. If you take a look at the free HUT cards they give you just to try to hook you, each player card is only good for "x" number of games and then they have other cards you can apply to those cards to give that player a couple of extra games on your team. It's designed to keep you buying those card packs even if you have the players you want.
I only play NHL solo or against or couch co-op with my son but a lot of kids are all about those online MUT or HUT teams. Other companies look like monetization amateurs compared to EA Sports.

Anyone who doesn't recognize EA as the money grubbing whores they are is just lying to themselves. A big reason I didn't buy Anthem was solely because it was EA. This is before the game was universally recognized as horseshit. I f you are not actively boycotting EA in some way you are doing a disservice not only to yourself but the hobby we all love.
Aloha Mr Hand !

That's when I uninstalled Origins forever and counted my Mass Effect purchase as a total loss.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
