As someone else mentioned, it's a novelty and those all wear off. It already wore off for me. I got my hunter to level 10 and by then remembered why I didn't really care for WoW until WOTLK.
I was already seeing people in chat complaining about the grind, needing groups to take down npc in low level areas, lack of quest markers, ect. Take a look at their forums..lol Those rose colored glasses are coming off quickly.
I do hope it's successful though for those who enjoy it. If they go as far as TBC on the servers then I might go back, but until then I will stick with retail for my WoW fix.
I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.
I'm not sure if this has been answered already, but what are they planning for the future of WoW Classic? Are they going to add expansions minus the game changes such as artifacts and such?
So far I've not seen any officially announced plans outside of releasing Classic in multiple phases to eventually bring it to the final 1.12 feature set.
Lots of speculation out there on Classic's future, I suppose it all depends on how financially successful it is over the long term.

This is actually amazing. Its like a social experiment. I doubt we never had a situation like this in the gaming industry before.
And what is most amazing, and a reflection of the world we live in, is that all the actual hate, doomsayers and negative messages come from the devs. Most of the "reviewbombing", lowering spectations and forecasting of rapid stagnation comes from the people that make the game.
Personally I have never seen something like this. Its thrilling and nuts. I cant wait to see new Q&A and news/forum responses from the devs. Flaming, acid spitting, customer abuse, looking down on players (when not directly saying that they are a bunch of morons that dont want what they want)... never seen such trolling before.
Its like they cant wait for this endeavour to fail, working so hard in making it a failure it seems they need it to fail.
Perhaps this is new in gaming but throughout history artists have loathed their fans for not appreciating their newer works, instead clamoring for them to play their older titles or calling their first efforts their best work.
Some musicians get so petulant on this point they'll often refuse to play certain older pieces, ran into this not so long ago when attending a concert for an aging act and they didn't play their most popular track, and I found an interview by the lead singer saying it was deliberate as he was "tired of it."

The huge success of Classic shows that the crowd does not want instanced, easy, convinient bullcrap games anymore. The market is more than huge for mature gamers who are just waiting to throw billions of dollars at gaming companies for a decent oldschool mmo. Yeah, we first generation gamers still exist- and we have money now, because we grew up!

All major content for Classic is instanced.
Utinni, I am talking about Questing, Phasing etc. WoW Classic feels like a real world. You Millenials and Generation Z, and what not dont understand that, unfortunately.
I am loving the game. It is so nice to get lost in a game world again. I am not using quest add-ons so you have to read the text to see where to go. Still easy to get lost. Doing my Shaman quest it was Probaly a 15 minute walk if you knew where to go, but I got a bit lost and took me about 30 minutes to find the guy and it was great. I found a oasis to fish and a horde camp I didn't know was there. I am just taking it slow and enjoying the shockingly friendly community and the well crafted world.
I just don't get it. WTF would you watch someone play it when you can just play it yourself?
It could be for a multitude of reasons, I tend to leave streams on my other monitor while I play games just to have some noise, also all of the people I watch tend to be extremely good at specific games. Some people like the personalities. It's like people who watch sports rather than play them. I understand there's a physical difference, but it's still similar.
Also with WoW, a lot of the viewers were waiting in queue to play the game.

Because it's the next best way to check it out without needing to DL, install and sub?
I'm going to go with that as my final answer, Regis.

Entertainment? Why do people watch sports? Why do people watch cooking shows? Not everyone who watches them actually actively cooks or even tries out all of what they see.

Welll 99% cant play sports at a very high level, and it's obvious you have never played golf, other than to maybe get drunk and ride around in the cart......

So am I to take that you think golf is great? That anyone who plays golf would know that it's great to watch?
You have a very Me centric view of the world don't you. You don't understand how other can like something but if they "don't" like something then clearly they have they haven't played it?
I have in fact played golf "once." I would never drive around in anything drunk.
So yeah, people watch golf. And they watch people playing games. I've accepted that people watch golf though I personally don't see the attraction. Now it's your turn.
edit: also what does playing sports at a high level have to do with it? I bet 99% of people can't play video games at a high/competitive level. Should that be the reason? Your world view is just so "you."

They follow because they're fans. Fans of the game or fans of the streamer. Just like all the other fans out there who follow sports and sports figures, movies and actors.

I remember when the success of a game was measured in how many people got the game. Now the success of a game is measured in how many people watch videos of it...

I dont watch twitch/streamers but I do watch League Of Legends pro games. I dont even play league anymore, but I enjoy watching peoples passions become there jobs. Its nice to see people doing what the love and profitting from it. And the colour casters are generally fun to listen too : )
Views are aleady on 200-300K range, most streamers are on lvl 40+, some on them are already 60, when most streamers get level cap in the next few days, views will decrease, and probably normalize.
Yep so in reality about a handful of top streamers can pull in near million views.
Goes to show how ridiculously influential just 2 or 3 top streamers can be when it comes to twitch numbers.
They can push just about any game to top spot if they want to.
Id say the record breaking figures are primarily a testament to the content not the streamer. For example, it wasn't long ago when a hot stream for Asmon would be 10k and his latter BFA launch/raid streams only multiplied that a few fold vs his classic launch stream that pushed into the mid 300k viewers at times and never really dipped below 60-80k viewers for that first week.
