The meat will be how the numbers look in a week or two... =)

The twitch numbers have dropped by more than half in the 2nd day of launch and then dropping from there steadily the entire first week.

The trend is definitely - steady decline
But that is the trend with most games... going to be interesting to see where it levels out.

This have been a good conversation

still hours long queues. Even I am impressed by Classic popularity. I expected it to lower way faster and way sooner.
i was mostly thinking about twitch.

You know, I don't even play this game but it's hilarious to watch all the goal posts moving from the doomsayers.  When it was announced it "wasn't going to last more than a month".  Then when it launched it "Will be dead in a few months" and now its suddenly "Let's see where it is in 6 months".  You can keep shifting goal posts but the fact is most of you were dead wrong about the success of WoW classic.

I don't get the appeal of livestreaming non-competitive games. With a PvP game, you can at least learn to improve from the pros. With something like this, you just get a lesser experience compared to just... playing the game.

I will sometimes pop into a stream if the gameplay trailers for a game don't do a good enough job selling me on a game or I'm still confused about how it plays out in practice.  That's the only time though.

I just don't get it. WTF would you watch someone play it when you can just play it yourself?
Entertainment? Why do people watch sports? Why do people watch cooking shows? Not everyone who watches them actually actively cooks or even tries out all of what they see.

    People watch golf. Golf!

Err, I don't watch any of those...and no idea why others choose to.

I've accepted others are just odd like that.

Not sure why anyone would bother to watch such an old game.  I could do classic Wow in my sleep, not sure why anyone would be that bored to watch someone else do it.

I think i am not alone in saying that sometimes i put stuff like that on to help me fall asleep, because it is so boring to watch.I used to put Golf on or the news also help to lull me to sleep.
Everyday i game i see something that really bothers me,i see hardly anyone actually ENJOYING the games they play,i is more like people are playing to say "i finished the game".
An example...powerleveling,why play a game if your just going to power level your character through it all.It also says a developer did a crap job with their game because there SHOULD be skills so that if you just power level your character would be at ground 0 for skills and be as useless as a level 1 player.

I don't know why anyone would watch someone play any of the current MMORPGs on the market.  Talk about a snooze fest.

I never had any interest whatsoever in Twitch. Like some of you are saying, watching other people play video games is just wrong.

You would be smart to stay away from Twitch,it is a garbage hangout,no better than Twitter or Facebook.
Even it's predecessor Justin.Tv was no better.

I just use it time to time to see what a game is like or go to sleep watching Bob Ross art lol or old Poker reruns, seeing Helmuth get angry never gets old. However yeah if you never use it,good job, your not missing out on anything, just a money hungry AMAZON looking for more ways to cash in on the human race's nonsense.

Yeah as already noted by some, this is not about the game but way more about the groupies who follow streamers around like it is something COOL to do.
I dont know if its "cool" I find that however quite useful in various scenarios.

    - Games you dont know: you learn how playing them looks like. For example I have never played WoW myself nor have I witnessed anyone playing them. Watching YouTube clips, I find it very annoying in many ways.

    - Games you know well: you get new ideas how to play them.

    - Games that support storytelling well: Examples would be Stellaris or RimWorld. Those can be quite entertaining if you have a good gamer doing them.
