Who here has called in "sick" to play a MMORPG on release day?
When was the last game you've done that?
If it's been a long time, does that say anything about the state of genre?
Mine was SWG. Yes, I think that says something about the state of the genre.

We had Empires run by Emperors, we had Kingdoms run by Kings, now we have Countries...

I DO rememeber missing work for SWTOR and Darkfall. Darkfall being the last time I have done it.
As far as the state of the genre, I think its partly the games and partly us. For instance I just cant see myself dedicating that much time to SWG or Darkfall anymore like I used to. I do crave that feeling again though and I hope one day a game comes to light that brings me back.
SWG (pre-cu) - AoC (pre-f2p) - PotBS (pre-boarder) - DDO - LotRO (pre-f2p) - STO (pre-f2p) - GnH (beta tester) - SWTOR - Neverwinter
I called in "sick" on September 11, 2001 (9-11 as it is also known as). My boss called me at home and asked if I had my TV on. I said yes and we just sat on each end of the phone, stunned at what was happening on our TVs.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR
Thank you for your time!
