Imagine if ESO was all mounts, cosmetics, being able to interact with a few crafting nodes, and 5 delves. When it was getting tested as an 'alpha'. The test phase EVERYONE was BEGGING to get into. It got crucified when they announced the Imperial package where you paid extra for a mount and the ability to play Imperial race. 90% of the people around shouted pay to win. How times have changed I guess.

    <snip>
Not hard to imagine what ESO would be like if it were all mounts, cosmetics etc. Its called Cyrodiil. Pretty much nothing to do there - but you can have a lot of fun!

Content locusts take note you do not want Cyrodiil. You want the quest heavy part of ESO in which you can become bloated, eventually bored and die. If you like ESO's content of course.

And there are obvious parallels between the two parts of ESO and SC/SQ42.

As for the debate on the Imperial Horse the issue was between those who believed a subscription model would work and those who felt that the Horse could become something more. As someone who didn't think the sub model would work I was one of those who saw the Imperial as a cash shop in waiting. Never felt like one of the 90% though - most felt a sub would work.

Never mind any development videos. What is happening that is fun?

So it's a walking simulator with chat room and flight sim tacked on. I bet the only fun you guys have is playing imagination day by standing around emoting at each other.

A poorly implemented flight sim that the devs are still trying to figure out how they want it to function. 7 years in and arguably one of the most important aspects of the game, the flying the ships part, is still being worked on.

Also a poorly implemented walking simulator since it’s janky and things like doorways can kill you.

    Seems pretty good already:

If you're dying in doorways maybe you should start using helmets before opening the hatch :D

Didn’t bother with the video cause for every video you post showing how great the game is there is at least 1 video showing the glaring flaws.

If anything it reinforced his fallacy when you reply with a compilation video of clips that last less than 20 seconds each. A lot of pretty views, but little to no information of how the flight actually works. Except that it seems in Star Citizen you spend most of your time flying behind someone and as close to planet's surface as you can for no discernible reason.

What can you do though? Walk around an empty planet, look at a rock, clip through a bush /fistpump emote, /airguitar and leave? lol. Nothing to do, no PVE, no PVP. Just you and an empty world. I can imagine the chat dialog......

Player 1 "Dude, did you see that one rock at -2835 5 2110? It looks like Jay Leno"

Player 2 "Naw bro, def Sara Jessica Parker"

Player3 "I thought it looked like Mister Potato Head in Toy Story 3"

So you are just running by assumptions on the gameplay of the game.

If you don't want videos then you can see the content listed here (there is a more accurate list I can't link it rn)
    https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/axc0tn/what_can_you_actually_do_in_star_citizen/ehsuash/

This does not include the last 3 major updates, the brough Arccorp with new mission types, more player vs AI content besides dogfighting (turrets, FPS AI, bounty missions), the ability to buy and rent ships, player inventories, fps mining, law/rep system, harvestables, and so on.

"No PvE, No PvP"? You tell me, I wish it was easy doing the most profitable trade route runs without getting PvP 'd/interdicted.

See? Even you don't believe that your video can be used to conclude stuff about flying ships in Star Citizen.

That is super cool.  I just watched a video explaining relative speed fairly well.  It is neat to see something similar simulated almost by chance just because the "world" is being build to be as real / accurate as possible.  The tech is great.  I hope the game play is there.  Still waiting to try it out again until something "big" is announced .

    Thank you for that clarification.

Condescending and name calling is the only defense they got.

The Mythical Man Month comes to mind. This is a book about computer software development; the moral of the story is that adding more and more people and money doesn't necessarily mean you will get a product faster, or even get a product at all.

I haven't been keeping up with this effort, just check in every year or so.

My summary of the state is that there is no game. You cannot buy a game. There is no beta either.

You can donate money with no guarantee of receiving anything, and can sometimes play a partial build if you don't want to save anything.

I usually wait 6 months or more for a new MMO to settle down. In SC's case, this timer hasn't even started yet.

SC could raise $100 billion by selling its donors list.  Imagine the value of a list of people who: will give you millions of dollars for an unfinished product; will also buy digital shinies for that unfinished product by the wheelbarrow load; have the patience of Job waiting on the product to release; and have the understanding that no product may ever release. That list would be the Holy Grail for salespersons of, well, anything.

Well based on all the videos you folks post that's all I've seen. So based on what I have observed I came to the conclusion that that is indeed all you can do; then added a twist of humor to it. Obviously I struck a nerve.

Which of those tons of videos feature game play from a released Star Citizen? Videos of playable work in progress do not a game make.
