I jumped into this finally yesterday, and it's so great. It feels like what I want every time I play a Fallout game. I love how much the speech skills can change dialogue and outcomes. It's great.

While I do love this game, people need to stop comparing it to Fallout. It's nothing like Fallout. It's more like Mass Effect or KOTOR than anything. The only similarity with Fallout is the combat. People just want an excuse to drag Fallout 76 through the dirt again.

I was originally going to wait for it to hit Steam - just because i like having my sh*t at one place... But i might aswell support em, straight away for making a no nonsense pure game.
With that, i mean the last bit in the above piece.

only one thing you kind don't need skills on weapons use anyway, they don't change much the damage you do, thinkering is more important, with is science thing, so as long you raise stealth tech and dialog is all you need

Can someone compare it to MEA for me?

How the combat between the two, which is better?

Hows the story between the two?

Hows the visuals, animations?  When I play Outer worlds I think I will do the remove chromatic  aberration mod thing.

    etc etc

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

A lot of people are saying this game is really easy. Is there an ultra hard mode? I usually like to start out in hard mode.

combat not much diference, you point and shoot, more like nv then mea style, mea you ahd the auto cover, here you need to hide behind things and shot like any first person shooter, but most combat situations here is like in mea too litte action with finish fast, but here you get one beef enemy every once in a while who take longer to drop

story so far is better, at least you tend to like the companions more here

visuals and animations are ok, nothing to say awesome and nothing to say its a crap, you need to take is imagine a fallout world, but that world didn't had a nuclear war, and then they go out in space, that is how much the idea is, or what they are trying to sell

but keeping on MEA and outer world, outer world is small in comparation, super nova difficult says you can't fast travel, at first you think that would be troublesome, but then you note is really is not since the maps are so small it matters little

game difficult is also not so hard, I play on hard, only because the chance to companions dieing is not something I really want to deal with

Game sounds great. Odd marketing decision though with the Epic exclusivity. /shrug

Can anyone who is currently playing the game tell me whether the FOV can be adjusted to 120? Is there head bobbing and can it be turned off?

FOV is horizontal FOV (not vertical like most games) and goes till 120. You can adjust beyond this. Click the PC Port Impressions article I linked above because I show you how to adjust this. Also no head bobbing when walking or sprinting.

No argument, loved it. My only complaint was that it was too short. 23 hours played, did every single thing in the game, and now it's done and gone. No replayability, no mod support, no DLC's announced, it's just done. It's everything a Fallout game should be...except long-lived :P

People don’t need an excuse to drag Fallout 76 through the dirt. Bethesda is doing that just fine on their own. Additionally, the developers themselves invited comparisons to Fallout in their very first reveal trailer by flashing, “From the original creators of Fallout,” and, “From the developers of Fallout New Vegas.” Comparisons are not only necessary, they’re entirely logical.

They did say they will look into mod support once the game launches so there might be some hope.

Thanks for the review. Sounds like one I would like. Going to add it to the Steam list and get it next year or sometime in the future to play through.

To be clear, this isn’t a review. I do, however, link our review in the second paragraph if you’re interested.

Agree with the ME comparison it got the vibes, but Fallout 76 don't need anyone's help to throw dirt onto themselves.

I'll wait till Steam on this one, but only because I have a backlog of games I'm still working through.

    Excellent read! Thx!!!

It's exactly what we need, Nailed it! it's exactly what we need to showcase how fed up and tired we all are of being monetized sheep to publishers. Well, maybe whales might object, but the rest of us 99.99% (repeating ofc) it's BS, we want to PLAY a game, maybe people in these publisher establishments are hard of hearing, we said PLAY, not pay at every turn.

I noted the review mentioned 40 hours played, 23 hours is a rounding error in terms of games I enjoy.

I played FO4 over 1200 hours without ever trying a mod.

Even FONV gave me about 175 hours as unlike many, I enjoyed FO4 much more.
