Spam prevention

If someone has less than 20 posts, they should not be able to post links.    Bonus points if it's a shadow blocking where no one sees it except the poster.

Maybe require a captcha to post something with a link if you're under 100 posts.

Start reporting the spam:  https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/93713?hl=en   Essentially the people monitoring their bots are also monitoring how their spam efforts affect their page rank.   Once they start seeing it nose dive they'll leave the site alone.

______________

They're not targeting your users.   They're targeting to increase the page rank of what they're spamming.    This helps them quite a bit, but it'll also damage MMORPG.COM's page rank by those links being on the site AND having been reported by other webmasters/Google's automation.

Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.

The bad thing is they resurrect "old threads" and suddenly those necro'd threads see action again, helping them even more.

Good idea about not being to post links, which should not be allowed at all until they make at least 20 posts.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.
