Hey, thanks for allowing me to be one of your 10 posts. Now with your little rant out of the way, if you did even a small bit of research before posting, you would've saw that it was Microsoft's fault for not allowing it on the xbox for so long since they didn't want to allow cross-platform play. The deal they tried to negotiate about 2 or so years ago would've made it come to xbox sooner at the cost of xbox users getting their own servers but SE would not agree to that. But hey, I'm just another dumbass.

Makes sense. PlayStation just announced they were going to allow crossplay going into the next generation. That was the only thing stopping them.
    LOL No, it wasnt.

This lie gets passed around the internet so much its not surprising that people still believe it.

Naoki Yoshida has been saying for SIX YEARS that Microsoft's policies are the reason why it took this long to get FF14 on Xbox.

I really want to love this game but the little so no voiceovers in cutscenes ruin it for me because I'm spoiled now so I got bored and stopped playing. Dancer was fun for a while tho

Another MMO I walked away from because it made you play solo. Wife and I were having a great time, except for portions of the main quest line would not let you play with friends. How MMO developers don't get, you play MMOs to play with people. Maybe console players won't mind?

FF14 is one of the most popular and profitable MMOs in the world so maybe you are the one that doesnt "get it"

I was a PC player (quit when system requirements of games outstripped my budget for hardware), now console only! So, Nanfoodle, I do mind! Agree about co-op play. If I wanted to play solo, I would do that and not get an mmo. I do not like the forced solo events/quests in any game. ESO does that, too! Also, my partner and I play as a couple, do not want forced 4 player dungeons either! Let co-opers play their way! Gamer Lyyyyyyyyyfe!

It's pretty much a walking simulator but once you play it try to stop playing it. They did something right.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

SE made a deal with Sony in the beginning and the game became cross-play between PS4 and PC.
Yes at that time, Microsoft had the same stance as Sony for not allowing Cross-play.

Soon after, Microsoft was actually the first major Console platform to allow full Cross-play, but Sony refused Cross-play between PS4 and other consoles (Xbox) not until very recently!

Microsoft wanted FFXIV on XBox for a long time, but Sony didn't allow it at the time.
You can find plenty articles about Phil Spencer being asked about FFXIV on XBox One going back 3 years at least, but Sony was the one blocking it. As why would they? Sony was in a comfortable position with the PS4 and could care less about Cross-play to XBox One.

It was only, after the whole Fortnite outrage last year and the PR disaster for Sony that followed that Sony finally caved in and finally allows full cross-play since earlier this year.

This now allowed SE to finally develop the XBox version of FFXIV.

Naoki Yoshida has been saying since 2013 that it was Microsoft policies that kept FF14 off the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

So, the game's head producer and director directly contradicts what you are saying.

    Hmmm, who to believe.

So, unless you have any proof to back up what you are saying then you are purposely spreading lies.

That was nearly 7 years ago! Both Microsoft and Sony had the same stance at Cross-Play.
FFXIV wasn't available on PS3 either.
It came in a late release on PS4, when SE struck a deal with Sony to allow Cross-Play between PS4 and PC, with clear "small letters" in contract that Cross-Play to any other platform was NOT permitted!

So when Microsoft went all-in on full Cross-Play between all platforms with Xbox One about 3-4 years ago, SE said they couldn't do it because they would have to create Xbox only servers and Microsoft got the blame, while it was Sony who was blocking it at that time as they refused full Cross-play towards Xbox One!!

Why you think that FFXIV is suddenly now coming to Xbox One?  That's right! Because Sony finally opened up to full Cross-Play not until earlier this year.
Microsoft wanted FFXIV on Xbox One over 3 years ago, but SE was contractually bound and just use the Microsoft Xbox Only servers excuse as to not anger Sony!

And just to put it to rest once and for all!  Minecraft has been full Cross-Play between Xbox, PC, iOS/Android and Nintendo Switch for 2 years now.
Same with Rocket League and some other Online games like Paladins for example.

Guess who was (and still is) notoriously absent in that list?  Sony PlayStation 4!  Go figure!

Did you say that FF14 wasn't on PS3?!

    WHAT?!?! Are you serious? HAHAHAHA!!!

The PS3 released on August 24, 2013 and was discontinued on June 16, 2017 due to RAM issues.

Also, here's Naoki Yoshida saying it's MSs fault earlier this year

So, it's pretty clear the real reason why you purposely spreading this lie is some kind of vendetta with Sony.

But, whatever, at least your posts here have been amusing with how completely wrong they are.

My bad. Forgot about the PS3 version, since I never owned the PS3.

I don't have any Vendetta. I own all consoles. PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One X.
I also played FFXIV on both PS4 and PC, but it was getting a bit expensive having to buy all the expacs two times, so after Heavensward I sticked to playing on PC only.

The fact remains that those so called recent articles don't make any sense and contradict a 3 year old interview with Phil Spencer himself, after he opened up Xbox One to FULL Cross-play!
So it feels like old interviews being brought up again during a period, just before PS4 was still NOT allowing full cross-play and Yoshi P not wanting to upset Sony, since they are on the same home turf (Japan). You have to remember that Xbox has pretty much a non-existent market share in Japan.
So it wouldn't surprise me if SE demanded Microsoft to foot the entire bill for the Xbox One version, since it makes ZERO financial sense for SE, if you see it from a Japanese market point of view. That is most likely the real truth behind it all!

Rocket League was one of the first to be full Cross-play between platforms, followed by Minecraft, Paladins, Fortnite, etc.
This between Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices going back at least 2 years.
It was Sony that refused Cross-Play and continued to refuse it, not until the whole thing blew up in their faces with the Fortnite debacle last year!

So AGAIN!  Xbox One has been open to FULL cross-play for at least 3 years now!

Sony only opened up PS4 to full Cross-Play this year about 6 months ago or so, due to mounting pressure.
Sony had absolutely ZERO interest in allowing Cross-Play. FFXIV and DCUO were the only two MMOs and only allowed cross-play between PS3/4 and PC. That's it!
Sony dominates this console generation with the PS4 and saw no reason to allow full cross-play, since they want to lock in their customer base into the PlayStation ecosystem!   Cross-play threatens that! They made that very clear time and again!

The only reason why Microsoft opened up to full cross-play about 3 years ago, is to regain lost market share with Xbox!
It's all about business and money!

And you have to thank both Microsoft and Nintendo with their extensive market campaign around Cross-play, followed by the community outrage with FORTNITE last year and further mounting pressure that finally made Sony cave in and open up the PlayStation platform to full Cross-play, since they don't want to loose momentum with the upcoming PS5 release!
Though, so far it's most only Fortnite so far that is full Cross-play with PS4 included.
