Not really surprised as this is CI. Apparently all they had was 280 slots and then they shut down all the computers that had the demo playing.

If you watched this stream rarely did they ever show the audience, most of those shots were the Q&A after panels and most people had already left. @Erillion is quite right there.
The conference itself was designed to keep attendants spread, there were multiple stages simultaneously with presentations and other locations open not on stream. Pretty much the opposite if the objective was to keep people on the stage being streamed.
That's the main stage at the main event, room is at capacity there, usually in such events the capacity of that main stage should be around the number of tickets sold for the event. Other pic of it
