Death Standing got three awards, that's crazy, I give DS my award as the game with the worst/most irrelevant gameplay ever to win an award.
Fortnite is the best "Ongoing game", is that because of the money it makes?
Disco Elysium got Best Narrative, Best RPG, Fresh Indie Game, Best Independent Game. If you want to see how the whole of gaming is becoming dumbed down look no further.

Here is my list of pointless awards created so they had something to give to everyone:
    Best Community Support
Best Fresh Indie Game, but also Best Independent Game. What's the difference?
Best Action Game and Best Action Adventure, interchangeable meanings.

Finally if you don't have a separate MMORPG or even MMO award how does the likes of ESO or WoW compete with Fortnite as an ongoing game?

I learned a long time ago to NOT give game award shows any credence at all. Those shows are about gathering as many sponsors as they can get they showcase those games.Besides i do not pick n choose my games based off some money making award show,i pick my games via criteria.

Best ongoing game, most definitely NOT Fortnite, that is a slap in the face of stupidity. It is a VERY simple shooter, sure carries another layer on top of typical shooters but that doesn't turn a shallow game into an amazing game.Matter of FACT,Fortnite was dumbed down from the game it was SUPPOSED to be to instead just COPY CAT..piggy back off of PubG.SO giving an award to a developer that dumbs down it's game for money proves again how these award shows are just crap.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Fire Emblem deserved more nominations. It is a masterpiece. But at least it won Player's Voice; that's a victory in its own right.

    What a joke this was.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

Sekiro is, however, an outstanding game. Interesting storyline, hard but fair gameplay: it really had no weaknesses, IMO. I thought it was well-deserving as Game of the Year.

I bet Control would be the game of the year if they didn't screw up with Epic store exclusivity on PC. But we'll never know.

note: uninstalled both Fortnite and Apex after couple hours. Apparently garbage is now considered GOTY in some categories - like Mcdonalds is the most popular restaurant.

    Thank you for your time!

I dunno, I've always found fire emblem boring due to the lackluster gameplay, I find the combat snore inducing. Would be better off as a visual novel IMO, as the storylines themselves are often pretty decent, but the bland combat gets in the way of it.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!
