Hackers and Modders Add NPCs to Fallout 76 Before Bethesda’s Official Wastelanders Update - MMORPG.com
As you may know, the Wastelanders update for Fallout 76 meant to add NPCs to the game was delayed into 2020. But this hasn't stopped hackers and modders.
Seeing as FO76 use the same asset base as FO4 i guess the tast of assetswapping a bunch of mobs and hot-gluing the follower ai on them.. not particualrly noteworthy.

It is especially noteworthy in light of Bethesda's own incompetence, laziness and greed that a bunch of unpaid enthusiasts achieve this.
Or to turn your argument around, if a few people could do a bit of "asset swapping" and "hot-gluing" - as ordinary and unimportant as you describe it - in their free time, the FO76 Creator Himself could surely do it in a day or two, tops - right? Right?!
The modding community is simply awesome and the same thing happened for FO4 as well. Even the season pass dlc for the the title was put into into the game before Bwhethesda released any of their official dlc. The Settlement Creation which was the most celebrated and talked about aspect of FO4 started out as a mod for FO3.
I think the funniest thing is modders/hackers have found a way for a good bit now to get atomic shops items.
What is not at all funny is apparently this same group of hackers has found a way to treat all players as "containers" and are able to open and loot them of all their goods .....story is making the rounds on FO76 Reddit and various Discord groups I'm member of.

Good. Maybe the devs will actually put some effort in and fix their game. I cannot wait for starfield, that will be a great laugh too. only reason their games are any good is the modding community.

No it's not "good", it doesn't just fuck with Bethesda's income, it fucks with my "fun."
If given the opportunity, my wrath would be both great and terrible.
Here's the reddit link with details. Anyone still playing on the PC version should steer clear of the public Adventure worlds until fixed.
I'll be staying on my private world while several of the Discord groups I'm part of are moving over to Nuclear Winter for the near future.

As said in the video I posted, it apparently extends to the BR as well.
I mean, on one hand you could blame the hackers.....but on the other hand, you could blame the developers trying to cash grab off of Fallout 4 by making it entirely into a co-op game off the same engine which has been worked on by modders/hackers for over a decade at this point.....The idea was great but it honestly should've been spear-headed by Zenimax instead of Bethesda development. You can't do junk like this in ESO.

And All Of It Would Just Work...
