What's the deal with Wurm Online?

Has anyone tried Wurm Online lately?  Not Wurm Unlimited, which I guess is a private server version on Steam.  How is it?  Fun old-school MMO or too outdated and low pop to possibly be enjoyed now?  I read a couple of other threads that indicated that a lot in the game is incomplete, even after all these years.

Thanks!

I know you're not really wanting to know about 'unlimited' but its far better, moddable and pretty much just as populated.

All around its a far better experience.

Now,to your question- Yes, I've tried it again approx 6 months ago. I have no idea why people say its incomplete (unlimited is pretty much complete and has had less updates) or what theyre referring to exactly . Never made it very far in the MMO because of many factors and I end up back in unlimited.

Have you ever played it? Its fantastic but not for everyone.

Its also like $40 which is I think a bit overpriced for what it offers these days.

OP, maybe try the free online version even for a little bit just to see what it offers. The Unlimited version lets server owners set higher skill gain rates (among other things) so you won't really lose anything by testing the waters first.

OK, maybe Unlimited is the way to go.  Just hesitant to play games with private servers because they can poof at any time.  How many people can play on one server, any idea?

No idea as to limits on population- But honestly when major servers like Skloptolis (spelling?) added new lands , there were more than 150+ online at a time...And theyve been around for literally years.

The thing about unlimited is that you can even play 'single player' with your own server or run your own MMORPG that is a full fledged mmorpg...However, MANY of the servers there are already established, have small but decent playerbases and have also been around for a very long time. Its a bit hit and miss but honestly I always quit before the server I play on does and many servers i've played on long ago are still going.

With this game there is a very dedicated , albeit small playerbase - So unlike many survival type MMO's that have player servers- These usually stick around.

The thing about WURM is that you are either going to love it or hate it- If you approach it more like a graphical MUD you will be much happier- Its very complex (and often archaic) so you'll be learning the game for along time.

I would recommend trying WURM MMO for free and if you like it grab Unlimited- You level faster and everything else on unlimited and there are no 'paywall' caps.

One of my favorite games ever- I actually downloaded it again based on this thread-
