have they mentioned they will be wiping the characters bank balance or at least down to a certain number to deal with all the exploiters? Or I do wonder if they are not bold enough to do that and fear the backlash. It should be done regardless.
Nothing says good development like punishing an entire population because of a few bad apples. Perhaps I misunderstand your post.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.

Their hesitation is because it's not "a few bad apples". I'd bet over half of players used the gem stacking. People got to 187 in days due to broken builds, invincible builds, so it's a bit shallow to start pointing fingers when there were so many abuse cases. It was known from the start that bane of tyranny was incorrect yet the majority of players used it knowing it was abusing a mistake. They wouldn't have a playerbase anymore if they started punishing anyone who played the game. This game is setup for MTX cosmetics so killing your base in the first few weeks is a sure fire way to close down your studio.
I'll say it again because maybe I am missing something here, but what is the difference if people exploited for gold/items/gems/whatever in what amounts to basically a single player game? Yes, I understand it's online co-op, but there are no leaderboards and no PVP. I don't see a problem here that would affect anyone else's game play experience in any way.
Wait...they are gonna do a wipe or something? I say, fine do it in Online mode! But leave my local saves alone! I don't want to lose my characters because of some no life nobodies. That's exactly why I hate "always online" - the state of my characters wholly depends on the state of some randos.
I played ~2 days before release, and while I was drunk, unfairly quit without giving it its due (I was pretty far along..). But I've been playing nearly all day today (after release now), and at least so far, it's solid. Yes, it has some bugs. Minor bugs so far at least. As well as some localization issues (missing sentence structures as well as periods). But frankly, it's like a combination of Diablo 3 and Path of Exile.. And I'm having fun.
