I'm a bit more restrained in my excitement for this. Baldur's Gate 2 is still my favorite game of all time. However, I didn't care much for D:OS 1 or 2. Those games never took themselves seriously and I have a really hard time enjoying, and getting immersed, in a product like that. It's the same reason I don't like Terry Pratchett books.

It seems like they got that criticism quite a bit because they have commented, a lot, on how Baldur's Gate 3 will have a darker tone. I'm just hoping they can pull that off. For that reason seeing how many similarities this has to D:OS 2 puts me off from it. Hopefully it turns out well.

The BG franchise couldn't be in better hands. These guys do CRPGs the right way.

Ya it looks like a clone of the last two games they made I just don't know It is kinda like all ubisoft games have open worlds and just different stories. I did not really like Dos2.

Are those screenshots of BG3? Looks like they are just making another Divinity with a Balders Gate wrapper/flavor... which is exactly what I expected to happen.

Happy as a lark about this game being developed by Larian I love them to pieces.

Of course the game will look like Divinity Original Sin probably because of the graphics and engine they are using but they are also incorporating the dice and will use other D and D effects. You cannot expect them not use their assets. You think money grows on trees is it?

So I will buy this game and love it.  It looks awesome...BUT...it shouldn't be D&D.  They kill the immersion with their style.  Let me dip my bow in fire it now becomes a flame bow with flaming arrows.  Irreverence can be done in D&D but think Minsc and Boo.  Their gameplay makes for good tactical combat.  Not good roleplaying immersion in the forgotten realms.

I finally got around to playing Dos2 last month, sadly this looks exactly the same.
    I want a BG3 not a Dos3.

I had never watched him before but based on this I just subbed to his channel. Very thorough coverage.

I've been watching early seasons of Better Call Saul on Netflix recently and his voice and delivery remind me of Jimmy's big brother Howard... in a good way :)

I hope it doesn’t look and feel like Divinity.
I love Divinity, but I want Baldurs Gate.

Still exited though, and I will buy it for sure either way, as I trust Larian to make a good game.

Divinity kept giving me a headache while poe didnt, not sure why. Anyway pillars of eternity seemed more like baldurs gate than divinity. Intimate voice acted cutscenes, dear god thats going to get tedious real fast.

This game looks really good and I know Larian will make sure its an amazing experience but from somebody that got into PC gaming with games like Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale I think Obsidian the makers of The Pillars Of Eternity series would have been the best choice.

I can understand the criticism from people who weren't that into the Divinity games. I watched the game play livestream and was thinking the whole time that it was Divinity 3 with a Baldur's Gate skin too.

I'm a bit conflicted. While D:OS2 was fairly light-hearted it wasn't to the point where it ruined it for me.

My apprehension is because I sunk literally 100's of hours into D:OS2 with various playthroughs. While I enjoyed it at the time I really have no desire to revisit it yet again, I burnt myself out. I was hoping BG3 would be different enough to not trigger feelings of deja vu. Maybe it won't, I'm glad there are months to wait so I'll have a few different games under my belt and might be ready for it again even if it feels similar.

I think people need to take a step back when it comes to this game.

If one is expecting a direct link to the first two Baldur's gate games then DON'T buy it.

Not only was that 20 years ago (20 years!) it was also done by a different studio.

The game play will be "similar" and the setting "should" of course be Baldur's gate.

But this is a completely different studio's take on the game.

To put it in perspective, if one was to play a D&D module with one dungeon master they shouldn't expect the same "game" with another dungeon master.

In essence, Larian is the Dungeon Master and this is their campaign. Bioware already did their campaign.
