People wanted HARDER areas, so HoT gave it to them and people complained. People are fickle and forget what they say.
This is not true at all.
SOME people wanted harder Content. SOME People Did not.
Those that did not want harder content, were not wrong or were they fickle in their feelings, they didn't want it, they didn't ask for it, and when it was thrust upon them with HoT, they made it clear they didn't like it.
The majority wanted harder areas. You will never please anyone because if you try to please everyone, no one will be happy.
Nope.
A Loud whiny, crybaby elitist minority wanted this.
When Anet made it, the previously quite majority that had been happily enjoying their game, well, I hate to say it, most of them just quit, and a small few spoke up. The few that spoke up were attacked and drowned out by the whiny cryabby elitist that wanted the content.
You're right, you can't please everyone.. But Anet has shown us, pissing off the majority of your player base was very easy.
Actually no - they had a poll. Herder won.
As I said, you can't please everyone. It is the way of games. HoT was fine to me - Trahearne died and that was a plus in my book.

LOL.. where was this poll? Reddit, their Forums? Some small niche place that people who are playing the game as opposed to shitting all over social media would never go, because I was playing long before HoT was launched, I didn't get no poll asking me if I wanted harder content.
Also.. Never Understood the Trahearne hate, I always liked how offered praise and admiration for the Commander. I wager you are one of the players that likes Taimi, you treats you like a test subject.

Personally, I kind of like him. His backstory as the lone scholar of Orr really set him up for exactly the role he needed, and it's quite nice seeing him struggle in a position of command that he isn't accustomed to. Though he didn't get the story build up he deserved. He really needed his own novel.
The only real disconnect I see is his simultaneous positioning as a frontline fighter, which is pure fantasy schlok. It's ironic that they actually addressed this head-on with Logan, who they relegated to a desk command job, but Logan actually IS a gifted fighter. So... lol.

Well, to be honest. Trahearne always gave praise to the player, always said "You built this" or "We built this together" it was never "I built this", so, he always came across as someone that truly needed the Commander, that the player was the Hero Tyria needed and saw. While he was just the glue that held it all together behind the scenes, and lets be honest, most players have the panache of a brick.
Also, if you got Caladbolg, fighting Trahearne was no easy task.

Yes, on their website.
Well, the vast majority of casuals, which at one time did make up the bulk of GW2's population (no idea where it is at now) don't have huge amounts of free time, which is what made GW2 so attractive to them, it was a game that rewarded players with minimal play time, unlike many other MMO's that often required larger blocks of time investments. So these players are not going to piss away their already limited playtime going to the GW2 website to even know if a vote is going on.
As such, there is no way in hell, the "Majority" of players voted at all.
