Mark Jacobs penned an update for Camelot Unchained recently in which he assured the community that the team is working hard to deliver on the 90-day plan.
I think people are so ticked, they may have stopped caring about any news but what kind of release date CU will have after they spent the money on something they should not have.

I think the idea was that they received extra funds to work on that other project and they will use some of those funds on Camelot Unchained. We'll see.

I am so beyond being over this game, screw this guy. 90 day plan? Wtf is that? The 90 day plan until you get to the next 90 days? We have about 10 more of those before this game is ready for any real release. Still in alpha, maybe even pre-alpha by most standards.
The biggest issue i have and one NOBODY seems to clue in on is ....
BEFORE he announced the Ragnarok idea he told his "BACKERS" to stay tuned for something big.
Anyone cluing in yet?Why on earth would the backers of CU care one bit about another game? This doesn't make any sense at all.
So was he originally going to try and implement Ragnarok into CU and then changed his mind perhaps because the investors want to see a whole new venue for revenue?IDK i am just trying to make sense as to why mark tells his backers to tune in to a big announcement.
SO then i read this article explaining what this Ragnarok is going to be and it is even more baffling.Released FIRST but also in tandem "sharing as many of the same assets".
So this just tells me he asked for more money and the investor/s said well we can do it but we want to add another layer of revenue to the game.SO since this is going to share the same assets, this sounds like LOL almost like Landmark trying to raise funds with a half assed effort. It also sounds like nothing more than a "game mode"something like a Battle Royale.
To me the big picture just sounds sketchy as hell.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Landmark was a working public ready game and the best building game I've ever played. This game Ragnarok is just another "promise" of a game no different than CU. How many years was MJ saying they were "working hard" on CU only to find out it's still in a pre-alpha state. The rest of what you wrote I agree with though.
If he really wants to sell CU backers on Ragnarok why not show what's been worked on in the game like all those different "classes" he spoke of in that announcement stream. Show the progression, skills, loot etc but I suspect just like CU MJ is just talking cause words are free.
Mark Jacobs will interact with the relatively forgiving posters on MOP, but not here or on the official FB group. If you guys think we're harsh on here, you should check out the responses in that group. MJ doesn't interact there, either. It's amazing the amount of bad will the man has managed to generate in his backers, who were once extremely positive and hyped.
Always rooting for a success story and Marc Jacobs is at least proactive in the community however would be nice to see some sort of actual gameplay after all these years + user interface such as other developments (ie. Ashes of Creation, Pantheon, Crowfall, etc.). Ie, all the backers are invited but have yet to see any gameplay footage? That might stir up some trust.

They should have pushed out a plan years ago. Now?
Say what they intend to do going forward
THEN report on what they said and update the plan
AND THEN report on their updated plan and update it again.
And keep on doing it.
They don't have to hit all their objectives, criticism will encourage them to do better in their next update. They do need to keep doing it though.
Plan, report, update the plan. All they can do if they want to establish any credibility.
And hope!
Seems to be their new plan now.
Still without any planned release date though, some things never change.
Welcome to year eight, anyone thinking nine or even ten years is not an unreasonable projection.?
I don't think that it will be that long. My guess is that they're going to run out of funds when Ragnarok flops, and they'll either push out a mess of an incomplete CU or just close down entirely. And probably blame Covid.

Took Darkfall 10 years to release.
It did, and it was very, very, very incomplete. They spent so much time working on the custom engine(sounds familiar) that almost none of their intended content made it in. It was very much a shell of what we had heard and hoped it would be.
With that said I don't consider Darkfall a complete failure simply because it did get a decent following that allowed the team to release a couple major updates and then ultimately lead to Unholy Wars.
The biggest difference is that I believe the CU team is expecting and require much more money than Aventurine did and thus even if they had the amount of "success" as Darkfall it wont be enough to keep it going. They'll just shut it down.

Took Darkfall 10 years to release.
That is not the "standard" anyone should aspire to.
It started with two people working in the engine and only expanded after the aventurine acquisition. But like CU they were created a specialized engine and that took the bulk of the time to create.
To me that just makes CU look worse but maybe that’s just me.
the progress is so fcking slow on this one... im still following it now and then...
but damn after so many years.. they are still doing concept art.. and adjusting the engine in order to get large scale battles.
while posting vid mostly every day or streaming crap on daily basis that maybe 100 people watch..
The idea is great.. and maybe it will come eventually.. but watching paint dry on the wall in my house is more exciting then seeing these updates of basicly nothing all the time
Any business can say Corvid 19 has put them back three or four months, but that's pushing it, I think trying to make a BR had far greater effect and still must be draining their resources if its still going.

Speaking of which, here's what is stated there.
"On 29 August 2001, Razorwax announced the development of Darkfall and launched its official website.[3]
The Razorwax development team was based in Oslo, Norway, and initially consisted of five members: Claus Grovdal (Lead Design and Producer), Ricki Sickenger (Lead Tools and Game Logic Programmer), Henning Ludvigsen (Art Director), Kjetil Helland (Lead 3D/Client Programmer), and Erik Sperling Johansen (Lead Server Programmer).
Approximately 14 months later, in October 2002, the Razorwax team was integrated into Aventurine SA, a newly formed company based in Athens, Greece, ostensibly created for the continued development and subsequent commercialisation of Darkfall.[4"

As a backer with IT access I can say that the game is finally at long last (and very slowly) starting to show some of the progress in gameplay that might have been expected if it was truly in beta (most of Beta 1 has felt like an extension of Alpha with work primarily being done on tech). However I still don't expect it to launch until very late 2021 or perhaps more likely 2022, and I still don't have a good feel for how fun it will be when it launches.
