Think using PlayAsia and gift cards is the only way.

@lahnmir have you managed it from outside US with a paypal issued with an address and different region?

@kitarad After some testing it seems that Paypal does indeed NOT work. Going to look at other options now to see what is easiest.

So, through my browser I was able to access the USA xbox/microsoft store and could add a US dollars xbox card. It did indeed accept USA dollars to my account and I could then purchase digital PSO2 goods.

Only thing unclear to me was if I was able to switch regions because I got an USA Xbox account from way, way back or if anyone can do it like this.

How are you liking the game btw? To me PSO is like crack and has been for many years but its an acquired taste. Absolutely loving this itteration, its the ultimate, non-isometric, MMO dungeon crawling looter for me.

I love it but it is very taxing. I cannot play beyond one mission I get a bit dizzy. I think I am panicking. I love it though and I am enjoying myself.

So many systems to learn and I am finding it very confusing but checking this guide and that guide and I am slowly learning. Thing is you cannot customize the controls at all basically. I want to change the mouse left, right and middle click buttons to something else but damnit cannot do it.

I made some mistakes and fed a good egg to my pet I think not sure. Currently I am rather overwhelmed to be honest but it is such a good game.

Good luck, let me know if you manage to end up in the American Microsoft store on your xbox account, Through your browser that is. If that works and you are signed in you can add a dollar currency xbox card when you go to payment. Hope it works for you too!

Great to hear. The PSO series is twenty years old (The original Everquest is only one year older) and has always kept using its own systems. They are perfectly logical but terminology and UI layout can be very confusing for those who haven’t been playing for two decades.

Don’t worry about small mistakes or feeding your mag something or throwing some item away, progression is extremely long and grindy, you will waste dozens of hours to just get that one perfect drop and enjoy every minute of it because you always progress something. For instance, there is a counter where you can wishlist items. Every mission you do after that increases the dropchance of the ingredients you need to make it. Those increases aren’t 1% per mission, they are less then 0,1%.

Learn about enhancing and upgrading gear, you can change passives, stat levels etc. Once you understand that you can start boosting gear. Learn about skill levels and that those are actual items, look for high level skill drops for your favorite abilities. Learn how to boost certain parts of your mag to compliment your class. Learn how to boost rewards by combining certain quests and consumables.

Other currencies, harvesting, meals and the casino aren’t that interesting for now, focus on character development.

Make sure you use the right link for the tweaker because the default is the Japanese link and the additional step to use the script isn't on the Japanese link.

    Here https://na.arks-layer.com/tweaker-install.html

If you can get your hands on a US Xbox gift card then you can apply it as long as there is no address on your account settings. Then add a US address when you use the code. It will work.

Really enjoying the game now that I am getting more invested and understanding how things work. Only problem is I am exhausted after playing this and cannot play my DDO that day :'(

What I enjoy is the casino, cooking, gathering and also levelling my summoner pets. I found a way, well someone helped me with it, to remap my center mouse button click and I mapped stuff to my gaming mouse. That way I am not so frantic about clicking and calmer when I play. I am such a klutz.

The systems in the game are far from intuitive. The interface is similarly not intuitive either so I am struggling but when you figure things out it is like a puzzle being revealed. I think these types of games have a level of complexity simply not found in Western games and it is sad that so many people just dismiss these games because they cannot get over the 'anime look' barrier. I definitely feel sorry for their loss but I know people just scoff at the game even before they actually try and understand and learn to appreciate that there is so much more than the veneer.

Anyway I always love this about Japanese games the way the whole game is crafted, looks and how each NPC and area has a theme or look that because it is anime is exactly what I love and enjoy. The quirkiness, the detail, the all round Japanese Anime effect of the game is really so dear to my heart. It just clicks in every way exactly how I just want to live in the world and be a character in it. I cannot explain it but you have to love anime to understand what I am talking about.

I cannot play any other class since I am so bad at action fighting but I have to make one other character to take advantage of the stamina for gathering. I am  trying to figure out what other class I could try but am gobsmacked how poor my fighting skills are and how easily I take damage. If not for the summoner class I'm convinced I would not be able to play this game at all and that would be a personal tragedy since it is such a darling game.

If you are having a tough time with the action combat, do something like ranger/hunter, and use a launcher.

Launchers lock you in place, and they don't require that you move very much. They hit large AOE areas, and do decent damage. As a hunter just pack on the health and defense along with iron will and you'll survive almost any attack. The only thing you have to worry about is healing, which, you'll likely have to use some mate items, and have your Mag heal you intermittently.

Sounds like it will be a good fit though, but it will have some growing pains.

Bow focused Braver here with AOE katana backup in case I get swarmed. Subclass will be Hunter or Summoner, not in a hurry to get it though.

I have always played melee in PSO so this is something quite different for me. It plays really well though.

I did the training missions for hunter and ranger. Although I liked ranger better it seemed less survivable than the hunter which I found a bit hard to play. The blocking and stuff. The wired lance seemed something I could work with though.

May be I should try the hunter because the likelihood of me dodging anything is nil.

Hunter is stronger, but melee is more susceptible to getting hit. Hunters can actually equip sigma launchers too, which are not really top on the damage board but they get the job done. Ranger main with hunter sub is something I run on one of my characters. More times than not I'm the last one standing even on Ultimate Quests, and I'm more damage focused than defense. If you spec mostly hunter sub as defensive, you probably won't have to worry much about dodging at all.

Wired lance is good too, and some attacks will root you in place and do good aoe damage, but I can't say whether it would actually be worth it at end game. Some bosses for melee just aren't as viable without actively dodging.

    It did not work.

The main problem is that the WASD is not truly WASD but rather WQSE. So when I'm trying to steer my character it is not going the way a WASD character would because the A,D is not gradually turning, it just moves abruptly in that direction. The fact I cannot back up makes it worse. The S makes my whole body turn and not back up and I turn and run so I am no longer aiming my weapon at the enemy and my the attacks all go wide.

Then the boss  jumps on my head I mean the boss literally jumps on you and I am unable to get away once that happens because I am caught under it when I try to use the AD I get completely disoriented. So I just get pummelled to death. I cannot seem to run away once I am caught in between the boss, the ground and some boulder or wall. It is just very bad the initial tutorial after I created the character went so bad I had to use the heal three times, the monomate and I had Afin and Zido helping. I suppose all the other boss fights will go even more terribly. I was playing on casual difficulty too.

Looks like I can only play a summoner because I am using the pet to attack and the boss isn't coming after me so my movements are not crucial to my survival. Once my life depends on me actually moving the whole thing falls around my ears and ends in a disaster.

Also the added failing will be my inability to aim properly. Don't know what I was thinking when I thought I could play one of the other classes.

Well if I need another character for the dailies and gathering I will make another summoner. Thanks for trying to help.

I did the forest quest on the ranger ( the first quest after you leave echo and Zido) and I used the launcher and there were other people in the multiparty area but the final area is solo. I managed it with no heals although the boss did hit me about 4 times. The big red boss that had some cool graphics. It was not so bad I have to practice and see if I can improve. I tried the 'z' and over the shoulder but that gave me a headache. Yeah I have all sorts of frailties  :p
but I will keep trying. I used only the launcher the whole time. That weapon seems to be more manageable.

I think I have to practice to get used to the movements. I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off and I found a tree to circle round and come on one side hit the boss then hide.

I am not entirely confidant I can get very far and I won't want to foist my awful player skills on any poor unsuspecting group. I will play on normal, hopefully I can progress on that difficulty.

It gets easier. As you get stronger, you'll eventually move up to harder difficulties.

With the launcher, and ranger you'll want to spend a lot of your time in the air. As much as possible in fact.  Don't worry about getting the perfect combos right now, just put a bunch of skill points in the ranger skill where you get a damage boost for staying still. Then jump in the air as high as you can and hold down the fire button, and alternate every once in a while with the triple shot skill. Rotate as necessary.

For normal and hard difficulty, that should get you by for a bit.

    So similar situation:

I do play with a controller, game plays pretty well and it really helps with my arthritis, but I can sympathize if someone isn't comfortable with it. Hope the control scheme issue gets worked out to your satisfaction. I will say the controller just has a "dodge" button and it will jump in whichever direction you are holding the stick, making it possible to jump backwards. I found it oddly mapped to RT, which takes some getting used to. Keyboard "Dodge" set to X, but not sure it works the same way, since it requires some chording on a controller (button + a direction).

I do know what you mean about not being able to run backwards - it does the same thing on the controller, the body turns but not the camera, so you lose LOS on the enemy and attacks miss. Only way around that I've found so far is to dodge back.

Game does seem to have a cadence, and if you miss the cadence, the bosses will just hammer you and it's difficult to get out of a jam once you get hit.

I started off as Hunter, it was not a bad class, stumbled through a few other classes before hitting on Summoner. Yeah, Summoner is just a lot easier to play. I will say Techer was not-so-distant second for me. I'm in love with Trim and Redran right now, but still very much learning and haven't even looked at optimizing yet.

Still trying to figure out exactly what the sub-class does for me. Not quite sure there yet. Still goofing around with Auxillaries.

Mostly just trying to work through Client Orders right now. I've only unlocked up to very hard difficulty.

Interesting that you both mention going backwards as being an issue. I guess maybe I've just never tried it the same way you are? Usually I just focus the camera and strafe.

It's easiest when you have a ranged class. You can stay strafed and gain or lose ground on the target.  Techer I would think would be one of the tougher classes to play because of melee and charging techs.

Braver might be good with bow for some that are still learning. Hunter as a sub class is one of the best overall, because they are so tanky. As long as you aren't playing your main class as Force, or going for 100% DPS you can get away with a lot with hunter as a sub.

Sub classes for the most part are supplements to your main class. They give you stat boosts, and some of them have abilities you can utilize. Obviously any of the skill tree skills that require the class to be your main class will not work as a sub class, but those abilities are usually few and far between.

For auxiliaries just make sure you're sending it out on adventures as often as you can or it won't gain levels.
