Aside from Mark Cerny's presentation, Sony's marketing for the PlayStation 5 has been a bit low key. Gamers everywhere have been looking forward to more details on the console or to just see the damn thing for some time now. Yesterday, Sony finally delivered. How did it go? These are some of the hits and misses of the presentation.

the playstation has a sort of "sail" form and it looks like it's moving forward. Or embracing the wind depending on which side you look at it. But it has "motion."
That looks like a box.

If improved graphic means the "Future of Gaming", yeah you gonna love PS5.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

Definately like that router more than the fridge.
Anyhow did they mention anything about backwards compatibility? If I could play all my ps games I currently own on it I would probably buy it and sell my ps3 and ps4. A pipe dream I know esp for the ps3 games.
All this does from my perspective is jumpstart selling of games, people will be buying games at a dumbfounded rate just to play stuff on their new toy.
It does NOT matter if this system is better, faster, all that matters is does it play your games. My point is that most likely 99% of the new games could have been launched on the PS3.
Epic has already showcased several times their engine can dumbh down the polycount by a LOT and still look every bit as good,so there really shouldn't be a huge need for a better machine.
"loading times" now this is one good argument,i can buy that ,IF that is your argument for a new machine.
"price tag"Well imo they take a bit of a hit knowing how this will kickstart billions in new game sales, they will make up for it,especially Microsoft who is trying to garner a profit on everything.
An important aspect, the games,so far 99.9% of the games i have seen are not worth my time. The only game so far is in this list "Horizon" looks like it MIGHT be good,i am not buying a console for 1 game lol.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
If it has lots of JRPGs then my future of gaming belongs there. That's what i love the most about Playstation and Nintendo consoles. Don't care about graphics.
As for the design of the PS5, i really like it. Glad to see curves making a comeback.
Graphics have reached the point that they can be near photo-realistic. Sure, there will be more incremental improvements from here, but we've already made the big leap. Now what devs need to do is work on using available power for things like better AI, NPC behavior, weather patterns, etc.

That's exactly why I bought a PS3
The Earth is just too small and fragile a basket for the human race to keep all it's eggs in - Robert A. Heinlein
I've only had two major gripes about the PS4:
- No UHD Blu-Ray support, which the XB1 has had since the refresh
- Loading times are OMG really bad. It takes Minutes to load up FFXV, for instance.
PS5 addresses both of those. I'm intrigued by the new controller as well.
A smaller gripe is the size of on-board storage. I was able to solve this with an external drive on the PS4, but annoying that the storage size isn't going to move upwards (at least on release) when I'm pretty confident that game install sizes definitely will. I cautiously wait to see what the full speed external storage options cost, I'm sure that will sting, or the inconvenience of having to shuffle titles between the on board storage and slower external storage that can't be played from.
I'm not really concerned about backwards compatibility - it's nice to have, sure, but if I really want to play the older games I'll load them up on an older console. PS5 will almost certainly replace my original PS4, so I'll still have a PS4 Pro in the house. Wife did make me unload my PS2/PS3 when we moved a couple of years ago, unfortunately, but I hadn't powered those on in years, so not a huge loss I suppose.
MS's Play Anywhere / Smart Delivery are great things for Microsoft, but not enough to get me to jump camp (at least as of yet, there's nothing that says consoles have to be a binary choice, I could own both if I wanted to). It would be nice for Sony to support something similar, but it won't keep me from getting a PS5.
I will likely order a PS5 on or shortly after release, for the 4K BluRay player if nothing else.
Size/design are fine, they get stuck in an entertainment center anyway and I never see them once I get them in. I had a feeling this generation would be large, just looking at the hardware specs they were going to need some pretty sizable (or loud, or both) cooling solutions.
I'm honestly surprised MS doesn't lean harder on Play Anywhere and XBox on PC. Sony doesn't have anything that can even get remotely close to that... Remote Play is a vastly inferior option than playing a PC version natively.
