What Does a Martian Look Like?: The Science of Extraterrestrial Life
by Jack Cohen and Ian Stewart
In addition to his "day job" as a biologist and lecturer Jack Cohen (D.Sc) worked with sf and fantasy authors and with science fiction TV shows regarding the creation of plausible aliens.
He had some great ideas - rooted in science (as we know it) - about how they might look etc. Could help provide some of the "focus" they talk about looking for.
Yes... let it die with the best funding month to month of CIG existence. and ten thousands New backers joining at every patch... during alpha buggy phase. Clearly a majority of the gamer community support you rather than CIG :!) 90 days top man!

JoeBlober, I know you put a tremendous amount of time into supporting this game, on multiple sites. I sincerely hope that it lives up to your expectations when it releases.
Yeah i was expecting more. This is just visual,i am more interested in the tech and how a creature design works in game.
Do players need any kind of special properties, types of weapons for types of creatures, resistances etc etc.
Game=sum of the parts
Game bin=a whole bunch of parts, sort of like dirty clothes in the hamper.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
What's the current ETA for beta for this thing, anyways?
There is none.
Back in March they still planned to have Squadron 42 beta in Q3, but they've since announced that that ETA is not kept up to date any more.
Awwww, SQ42 Beta Q3 2020 must have been mentioned a million times on the boards to teach the critics that CIG, contrary to them, did know what they were doing. Are you telling me it has been replaced with a new date of “whenever?” That would be about the same category as the 90 days tops meme....

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.
It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.
It is just huge resource waste....'

After so many years they have the courage to show a space crab walking on a flat and rigid surface and all those aliens with claws on their hind limbs and considering the size and weight of these animals by the images, notice that they are creatures that have evolved over millions and millions years to finally develop hind legs with extremely thin claws that look more like pocketknives that the real function is only to bring pain and suffering when the animal moves.
Artistic concept is not by far OK, all the creatures presented seem to copy / paste from some classic RPG book.
Even mobile games from 4 years ago have this kind of creature designed that way.
Stay firm, they are not scam the fan base to keep this project forever in the development phase.
I never talk about games, I've been here since the first few months, not only in the first days of this site, but since the first days of MMOs and about this game I only have one thing to say:

Enough is enough.
WOW - ONE CREATURE after all these years. One would think they would be doing this rather than selling ships, but one can see what they are interested in. They have people hooked, just like drug addicts, and have to feed them their drug.
I hope the game will come out but I do not have my hopes high for it actually being finalized at all.

A joke that only someones old dad could love ;-)
Have fun

Meh. At least it's not about ships for sale that may take years to ever actually be flyable.
