which game (just read it trust me)

me and my sister like playing games together especially RPG's. of course im better at them and i understand them better, we both think they are fun. weve decided that we are going to start paying monthly for a MMORPG that we will both be playing together. right now, were choosing between Star Wars Galaxies and the MAtrix online. We have those to because we know that galaxies is GIANT, and you can do almost anything you want. And matrix because its similar, but less size. We want the sort of game like galaxies because you can do anything, but it is SOO big and everyone has been playing for a while now. Matrix is most likely easier to get started. but of course, we dont know. Price is not an issue here.
I would like to know exactly how fighting other players works in each game, how many citites and planets you can travel to in galaxies there are as well as if you can do things like owna a shop, or buy a spaceship. as well as what game you think would be best for us. or if there are any other games you think we should consider, please dont say Wow or GW plz. we also might consider DOAC, but i would like opinions on each game and how they work. we're looking forward to playing something in the future thanks.

Never played matrix, but i have played swg. It was a while ago, but i doubt it's changed.

IMO, it was basically advanced everquest. That's what most mmos nowadays are. It's poing and click combat, you can use special moves but there's little point. As a combat character, you spend endless hours going around with parties and mobbing giant beasties, as a crafter or miner you set upa macroand let it run overnight so that your skill will raise without you working hard. If you don't do either of these things, you will be helplessly behind others starting at the same time as you.

The graphics aren't particularly good. Animals run in one direction while the animation looks like they're running in a different one. In general it's not too impressive, and lag makes it worse.

PvP isn't worth mentioning. You basically just watch it. If you want you can click on more powerful attacks (headshot, for instance, or kneel to get better accuracy) but it's not that much of a difference. Even if you get a shot in the head the person won't die. All that matters is who has the most powerful character (the weapons come into it as well, but more than likely your weapon is going to reflect your level.

Creature training is kinda neat, but really it's not too diverse. It's nice to see your creature grow up and all, but usually they're not as good as players. And after seeing my big beast with one set of legs sticking ten feet in the air, the other set on the edge of a hill, that just brings back the issue of crappy graphics.

However, if you like stuff like EQ, you'll probably love SWG. It's basically a much advanced, much better looking version of that. I'm just disgusted with that type of game, so i might be a BIT biased. I still played it a while before i quit (it does have a very large appeal at first, because there really is a LOT you can do, but it wore off for me, again if you like eqish games it prolly won't wear off for you).

Oh, i did like the crafting system too. It was pretty nice. Same grind, but more than average customization. And some experimenting. But you have to do endless stupid grinding with macros and factories, wasting tons of recources (which most ppl beg for, the economy is so fuked up) before it's even worth making items.

If you and your sister like playing together just remember SWG is 1 char per server. So you couldn't play on the same server. I have no clue about Matrix though. If this doesn't bother you I highly recommend SWG over Matrix. Matrix is crud and it is one of those few games I'll judge before I play.

I definately would consider WoW if I were you. The game is one of the most solid out there right now and allows more than 1 char per server. Can't own shops or such like in SWG but it is a good one just the same. I am praising it and I don't even play it anymore so I am not saying this because I am the ultimate fanboy. Reason I don't play it btw is because of my lack of time. I still say it is the most solid since UO.

if we cant play on the same server than its not worth it because that was the whole point, to play together, i might play myself, but i dont know if its worth the money. from what yoru said, makes me want to less play it because i thought it was a much bigger game than EQ style point click. i wanted something where you could be anyone, and do anything. and even if wow or gw is like that, i dont want to play it, i have my reasons. if there are any gamees out there where you can basically do anything or be anyone please recommend them. because i thought that in swg you could basically do anything you wanted and go anywhere. ill also look deeper into matrix though. any recommendations?

You can't play a mmorpg together without 2 accounts anyway :S In that case you can play SWG on the same server because you have 2 accounts!

If you want to share an account then your not playing together :S

Well SWG is pretty much the only "BIG" mmorpg that does what it does : So you wont find it anywhere else!

Atm it's soo unbalanced and the CU just happened so it's a bloody mess!

SWG is definately the most open ended one out there. My only true beef is that is is not solid. Everything seems buggy. Also 95% of every planet seems deserted even at peak hours.
